Groups are better at 50 yards than 25 yards

I was thinking that the main reason for using a globe sight was to circle the bullseye with the insert. I figured the post insert was for hunting. I assume you must use The post insert for 6 o’clock hold?

Groups are better at 50 yards than 25 yards

I’m away from home for a week so I can’t get pictures of my gun for awhile. I use 3 inch bullseye at 25 yards and 10 inch @ 50.

Groups are better at 50 yards than 25 yards

You maybe right. Not getting tighter groups at 25 yards was really getting to me, which is why I moved to 50 yards. I was expecting a wide group at 50 yards but was really happy with what I got. I always like to end my range time on a high note.

Groups are better at 50 yards than 25 yards

Just put peep and globe sights on my TC Hawken. With everything the same,(load, aim point, bench rest set up), my groups are tighter at 50 yards than 25 yards. I haven't shot that much with the new sights, but the results don't make sense to me. The groups at 25 yards are about 1 1/2 inches. At...

    Hunting equipment carried

One thing related to cell phone service, if you try to walk out of a remote area you will get into a cell phone sign area long before you get all the way to the nearest town.

    Hunting equipment carried

I hunt alone most of the time. I tell my Wife where I will be hunting and parking, if she knows the area. If she doesn't know the area, I mark the spot on a map which I leave with her. I leave a two way radio in my Jeep and carry one with me. Both radios are on the same channel so if she were to...

    Hunting equipment carried

I have some Federal land I hunt some, that requires either a canoe or chest waders to get into. The canoe I can chain up, I never know how to take care of the waders. Once I hit high ground there is no need for either. The waders are too big for my backpack and too important to have someone walk...

    Hunting equipment carried

Last season I bought a knife with replaceable razor blade. I found the pressure needed to dress the deer popped the razor loose. I was very disappointed.

    Hunting equipment carried

One thing I carry and use is a GPS unit. I go in long before first light and out in the dark at night. If I get a deer, I want the direct path to the Jeep not just the general direction that a compass gives. I carry a compass to back up the GPS.

    Hunting equipment carried

I always have some thing to sit on, my bony butt cannot take sitting on bare ground any more. Also, there’s always something in my backpack to protect me from rain and wet snow. I guess I am showing my age.

    Hunting equipment carried

I just got a small belt bag and I’m trying to figure out how to get the necessary stuff in. The problem seems to be deciding what is necessary.

I carry a huge box of “stuff” to the table at the range. What do you reduce down to carry in the woods.

    SOLD Traditions Crockett Rifle .32

I bought mine a short time ago. I agree that a good wooden ram rod would be a big improvement. The aluminum ram rod that comes with the gun is noisy.

I'm sorry about all the quotes above, all I wanted was the last one.

    New Crockett

They No, the area around the nipple is too tight in the direction of the tang, for a nipple wrench to fit in and turn. One solution is to grind steel off the end (sides) of a regular nipple wrench. This makes the wrench less strong but it will turn unless the nipple is stick in too big hard...
