    History of the patch

Great question! I‘m anxiously waiting for replies by folks a lot more informed than I am. In these days we “mic” patch thickness and develop “scientific” loads. I am not so sure that‘s how the old timers did it. I’m standing by....................

    Nevada; Lakes Crossing Muzzleloaders

Just thought I’d throw this out there. Are there any Lakes Crossings members out there? I purchased my life membership in 1978. Many folks are gone now, but I sure miss the glory days of the late seventies into the eighties!

Should I consider a smoothbore if I'm a rifle guy?

YES! You have to have a flintlock smoothbore. That’s the rules. You won’t go back to one of those cappy doodads!:thumb:
  20. Brian Gibbs

    Cleaning question

Just swab the bore with patches. No need to “fill” it with water and let it soak. Wipe ’er down every few! These aren’t modern guns. Shoot, wipe, check yer flint and frizzen, Little wipe here and there. Shoot again!
