    On casting roundballs......

Gentlemen, I do not mean to be curt and I do indeed appreciate your replies. I'm mostly interested in what folk do when casting for smoothbores .

    On casting roundballs......

Just wondering how many folks cast their own balls? Do you concern yourself with hardness? Years ago, I used my Father's lead pots, ladles, etc. to cast round balls for my .45 and .50 cal. rifles. However, I never really concerned myself with hardness or "perfectly" round balls. My Father...

    Pedersoli Trade Gun

Oh, hey! On a sidenote here, for anyone considering one of these. Apparently, since it is an import (to the U.S.), the ramrod is measured at 9mm! So, what the heck is a millimeter?:dunno:Ok, just kidding. However, if one needs to order a ramrod, you want it to fit through your thimbles!

+1 for track of the wolf flints. English flints. That rifle reminds me of a .45 cal. CVA Kentucky rifle I used to take my first deer! Hope you have fun with trying different loads and learning what works for you! Dang addictive flintlocks!;)

    Pedersoli Trade Gun

So, got the lock back a week or so ago. WAY smoother with a much better trigger break. The gentleman who did the work said the frizzen is good and we discussed flints and flint positioning. I don't have his permission to use his name here so I'll just say that he is a gunbuilder in...
