Shot weight with a powder measure

When I bought my first ML shotgun (28 ga) back in '69', I used a sawed off 20 gauge shell for a measure. Equal amounts of each. A friend gave me the idea and it worked fine. Used crumpled paper for wads over and between. Who knew?

Thanks. Not in a rush. Had the gun for about six years and just got the urge to shoot it. Someone may have one they don't need but not going to pay more than retail. Got a little pocket pistol too. I think it's 31 but not sure.

Stuck ball, now with drill bit

I have never owned a ball puller. Just shoot it out. Probably done it a 100 times over the years. Flint and percussion. Just push some powder in and go. After you get as much in as you can, shove the ball back down. Of course if you drilled a hole all the way through the ball, then unbreaching...

    What was your first Muzzleloader?

I got my first ML when I was 15 in 1969. It is the top shotgun in the picture below. It is a 28 ga. shotgun. Hunted rabbits and squirrels with it. Used newspaper for wads and plastic toy pistol caps for caps. I bought it through the mail from an ad in the back of a Field and Stream magazine...

    Pocket Colt Question

When I was a kid, my best friend had an original Colt pocket pistol that had belonged to his Great Grandfather. It was .36 cal and the barrel was only 2" or so. No loading lever. We used two load it by removing the cylinder and pushing the balls in with the cylinder post. I'm not sure but it may...

    Rifle will not fire?

Before you put any oil or anything in or around the nipple, get a hold of some real Black powder and push as many grains as you can down the nipple with a wire or paperclip etc. Basically prime the nipple. I have done this many times without removing the nipple. Then would find some real black...

    Rifle will not fire?

Pull it and get some REAL black powder. Once it is empty, blow down the barrel to see if air comes out the nipple.

    Pedersoli Kentucky pistol.

Fifty something years ago at the ripe old age of 15, I talked my my mother into buying me a Kentucky pistol. ( My money, her buying) I had a 28 ga percussion shotgun that I terrorized the ground squirrels and rabbits with and wanted a "follow up" shot. It was a percussion and I loaded it with #4...
