    Not always but its there. About a 20% chance in my experience with mine as I stripped the factory finish off all of them. It darkened and had a reddish tone when finished with just BLO. Actually, it was very nice looking but not dark walnut looking which is what I wanted.

    BLO will come out of wood - at least 99.9% apparently by looks and stain absorption - but it was a lot of work. Sanding is a obvious option but it removes wood of course. Multiple applications of chemical stripper, with a solvent wipe in between, finishing with the lightest sanding I could get...

    Another option may be to call IFG (Italian Firearms Group) out of Texas. They are the main importer of the major Italian firearms (black powder) to the USA. I’ve called them direct before and ordered Pedersoli stuff from them. Not parts but it may be worth a try as they were most helpful.

    Honestly I’ll claim “stupid dummy” here. I didn’t know the “9mm” referred to rod diameter (just measured mine and it’s 9mm) and thought if it was a good replacement TOTW would mention the Jaeger in the sales blurb so I passed. Ordered now. Thank you gentlemen!

    Brown Bess Light Load

    This is “official Pedersoli” and quite handy. And 150 grains exceeds Pedersoli’s recommended maximum for the Bess FYI. Pedersoli says their recommended loads provided the best accuracy for them and form a good starting point for load development.
