It is a watery liquid. I simply squirt enough to saturate the innards of the lock then wipe it down.

    Lyman Trade Rifle opinions

I've got one in 50 shoots better than I can hold nice rugged reliable rifle. Especially like the single trigger.

Your most 'interesting' muzzleloader transaction ?

Yeah I had one last year. I did a lot of research over the years for a custom flintlock. I finally chose a builder called and he gave me a build time of just 45 days! I was stoked! No long wait! Well he requested I pay in full, which I wasn't to keen on, but I was so excited over the short...

How long does it take you to clean your rifle/smoothbore?

Yep I agree with Frontier's I take as long as it takes to get them clean and oiled.

    New to me rifle

He let me shoot it before I bought it! I was 2" high from about 40 yards off hand so it shoots pretty good!

    New to me rifle

Well I decided I got a pretty good deal on this rifle. So it has a Siler lock, R.E. Davis triggers, what appears to be a fairly plain maple stock. The barrel has round bottom rifling so that narrows it down to either a Rice or Colerain barrel, already sighted in. All this for only $700.

    New to me rifle

After taking a look in my TOTW catalog I believe you're right. Matches up to a deluxe siler. It takes 7/8 x 3/4" flints.

    New to me rifle

It is a custom .50 caliber in the southern mountain rifle style made by Bob Gass in 2011. The barrel is a 42" straight octagon measuring 7/8" across the flats. It is iron mounted and all parts are browned. The trigger is a double set, and the length of pull to the forward trigger is 13.75"...

    Thoughts on a new purchase

I second the Lyman trade rifle. I like mine. I also have 3 Traditions rifles which are good quality but the Lyman is just a better gun for the money.
