Rice Golden Age 48” barrel finding a stock blank

I tried it in a SMR Quaker and it didn’t work. Was too wide at the breech and would’ve left it very flimsy if I tried to inlet it

    Underhammer pistol kits?

I was looking at them the other day but they don’t look like anything I could modify into a pistol like what I was intending. Thank you though

    Underhammer pistol kits?

Is anyone making a reasonably priced underhammer pistol? Looking for something like a ruggles patent just don’t want to pay through the nose for it. I don’t really care if the barrel is included or not I’m just looking for the hammer, trigger, spring(s) and the breech plug. Everything I’ve seen...

Cracked stock in front of lock

I’ll have to remember that for the next time. Good idea. Thanks!

Cracked stock in front of lock

Thank you very much for such a detailed explanation! I considered bedding it but that barrel sits so tight in that stock there isn’t any room unless I go in and carve some away which I’ve considered. Time will tell how it holds up

Cracked stock in front of lock

I couldn’t even imagine even looking at a blank of that quality with my own eyes let alone working one 😅

Cracked stock in front of lock

Yeah I’m going to be extra careful when I put the lock back in. I’m not sure how it broke so easily this time. There must’ve been a hairline I didn’t see. Definitely a first for me

Cracked stock in front of lock

I did the best I could and it seems solid. If it breaks again though I’ll shoot you a message. Thank you!

Cracked stock in front of lock

I just finished putting in a pin. Don’t really have the meat to fit another in or I would

Cracked stock in front of lock

Yeah it was the most beautiful break I’ve ever seen as much as it hurt 🤣

Cracked stock in front of lock

I forgot I had wicked some in to the inside of the stock during the repair but yes it made me sick to my stomach. I just put the lock in by hand and the whole top blew off and I swore I was going to sell all my stuff and become a monk after that 🤣

Cracked stock in front of lock

I’m throwing together a hawken and just repaired a break just in front of the lock and was wondering if anyone had ideas on how to strengthen it. I don’t want it breaking again and I don’t want to scrap this stock because it’s some beautiful curly maple. I used titebond 3 on it and it seems...

WANTED .54 cal investarms/ cabelas / Lyman stainless sporter

Oh I know they do. But that doesn’t mean I’m going to be trying one. Like I said. The industry standard for safety is .025 on the walls at the lowest end. .017 is really pushing it. I’ll pass thanks.

WANTED .54 cal investarms/ cabelas / Lyman stainless sporter

I don’t think that you’ll find a 15/16 in .58. Not enough meat on the barrel to be safe. You’re looking at about .017” on the walls(at most) where .025 is the absolute minimum for safety reasons(my math might be off but you can ask the pros like Bobby Hoyt, he’ll agree. You need at least an inch...
