    Show off your first muzzleloader!

traditions “Springfield Hawken” 54 cal. purchased at Bass Pro in the late 90’s. They were selling the rifle for 100.00. There was a big box of them to pick from, no box or packaging. I didn’t take as good of care of the bore as I should have, I was learning, but it is still a tack driver...

    Poured pewter nose cap..?

Definitely a learning experience! I will spend a lot more time on the form next time.

    Poured pewter nose cap..?

Tallpine, thanks for the advice 👍🏻. The patch job worked out well. A lot better than melting it off and remaking the form.

    Poured pewter nose cap..?

    Poured pewter nose cap..?

This is my first try at pouring a pewter nose cap. All was going well until finish filing and I exposed some wood under an area that got too thin. Is there a way to make this look right without doing it over and potentially ruining my stock?

    Wall mounted rifle rack...input needed.

You can use antler tips like I did on my bow rack. Drill the back of the antlers to fit a lag bolt and bolt them to the wood before you mount the boards to the wall.

    Half stock #2

There is 1/4” cast off. Thanks everyone for the comments. This is fun and a good learning project. Trying to build on lessons learned from the last project. Best part is finding out what hand tools to get. I sure am glad to have the forums to research and learn from, it’s the next best thing to...

    Half stock #2

I’m diving into my second build. This one is a cherry stocked 54 cal. Using mostly CVA parts. Trying some different shaping than I did on my first build. Wanting to pour a pewter nose cap and use an entry thimble on ramrod hole. Also raising the cheek piece higher.

    Home Made Shooting Accessories

I’m starting on my 2nd build of a half stock 54 cal. in cherry. It will be similar to my 1st one I did in walnut in the building forum that I mistakenly called a “hawken” 😅 it’s just a conglomeration of CVA mountain rifle and hawken parts in a new slimmer stock.

    Home Made Shooting Accessories

This is the first powder horn that I made from a cow horn a friend gave me. I used an awl to scratch the patterns and rubbed in India ink for color. The plug is a deer antler tip.

    WANTED 15/16 x 36 54 cal. Barrel

Looking for barrel for a Leman trade rifle project. 15/16 x36 in 54 cal. Thought I would check here before getting a new one. I am wanting it already breached with a tang that works for a Leman. Would like to find a Colerain but open to other options, NOS or used with excellent bore. Thinking...
