Blackpowder vs Pyrodex & Flintlocks - Dumb Question

Closest place to me that has any is 90 min away. If I can avoid hazmat shipping (and the inevitable headache of being forced to drive across the county to pick up my shipment), I'll do it.

I just don't need any legal entanglements.

    Tips for new builders?

I haven't reached any sort of decision making process yet. I was thinking add on parts to the barrel would need to be soldered or something. My experience with soldering is more inline with circuit boards and what not.

The kibler kits are gorgeous. Can anyone reccomend a pistol kit source?

General Powder Storage - Plastic vs Metal containers.

If I had dedicated flasks for powder size, I'd probably use different size spouts for identification. Ie: If it has a 24/30 grain spout, that would tell me 3f for my pistol. 60 grain spout would be 2F for shotguns, rifles and what not. basically smaller spout, smaller size powder granules.

Those Kibler kits are gorgeous. My concern is I've never stained wood, not sure how to attach sights, etc.

    My New Mortar

Now I'm wondering if the flash of the powder would "charge" up a glow in the dark ball.

General Powder Storage - Plastic vs Metal containers.

I experienced this with some gun oils/solvents. Was throwing soaked/used patches in a cheap disposable plastic bowl and before I knew it, the bowl had melted onto the towel I had placed under it.

    .58 zouave rifle help

I've actually got a couple of similar measures. I haven't touched BP in a number of years, so I've been refreshing my memory. Thanks for the reminder. Last thing I need is a BP grenade going off in my face.

    Tips for new builders?

Can anyone reccomend some good resources (preferably video/picture with explanations) as I'm more of a visual learner) for building BP arms? I'd love to do a kit build, but I don't feel comfortable enough spending a decent chunk of change on let's say a Brown Bess because I'm too afraid I'd...

For some reason, the site is working for me now. Not sure what caused the problem. Once membership is in my budget (Aug/Sep), I plan to look more into joining. I also use the Bennigan's on 192 as my local watering hole if you ever want to grab a pint.

I was at the Palm Bay Bass Pro last week and I got the "what we carry is what's on the shelf" type of reply when I asked.

I was trying to find information on the Port Malabar club, but it looks like their website was hacked or something some time ago. The fact that I recently experienced it and people have reported the issue on their FB page several months ago makes me cautious about doing any business with them.

General Powder Storage - Plastic vs Metal containers.

Last time I bought BP it was GOEX and it came in metal containers. This weekend I plan to buy some Scheutzen and it (same as Swiss for that matter) appear to come in plastic containers. Are metal containers and better or worse than plastic ones? Should I toss a little dessicant pack in the...
