1855 Musket Cartridge Box strap attachment.

Tried to post this earlier and don’t know where it went. I received an 1855 musket cartridge box for Christmas and for the life of me I can’t figure out how the strap attached to this box. Probably simple as pie but apparently I am suffering a brain fart and can’t figure it out. If any of the...

    Musket cartridge box strap

I received an 1855/1864 musket cartridge box for Christmas and I’m trying to figure out how to attach the strap to the box. This box came from Dixie Gun Works. Would any of the members here have any idea how this strap is attached? Pictures of the strap attached to the box would be a great help...

    Dear OLE TIMERS, Act Now

40 years ago when I was a tool and die maker I bought a .44 cal. revolver kit just because I could. Built it and shot it a little. Meh. Cured my fever. I thought. In the mid ‘90’s I built two .54 cal. rifles. One cap and one flint. That cured me until about 2 years ago. A close friend gave me a...

    Manchero .54

Took it out today and fired 10 rounds through it. After a few shots the breech block began to tighten up so I had to take it apart and clean the block and receiver and everything worked as it should. Fun to shoot. Now I need to roll some more paper. I finally hit a large pumpkin at around 40...

    Manchero .54

Well here is my first attempt as making paper cartridges. Will make a couple more tonight and take it out tomorrow and see if they will make smoke. Loaded with 40 gr of 3f and a 425 gr maxi-ball.

    Manchero .54

There is no gap. I slid the breech block back in without the plate on it. Dumb stunt on my part.

    Manchero .54

What load do you use? And is it 3F?

    Manchero .54

Don’t know cartridge it takes. Will post pictures when I get back home. Pretty obvious that I can’t just load it from the muzzle because of the gap at the breach.

    Manchero .54

I traded for a Manchero .54 cal. rifle in the Sharps style this morning. I have no idea how to load this monster. Looks like I’m going to have to buy some kind of cartridge case to load it. Any help with this rifle would be greatly appreciated.

    F.LLIPIETTA .44 Navy Revolver problem

I have picked up a F.LLIPIETTA .44 cal. Navy revolver. I have another different brand Navy revolver and it functions fine but this one acts different. Question is is the cylinder supposed to spin free with the hammer at half ****? With the hammer at 1/2 **** on this revolver the cylinder will...
