    die size

Pedersoli uses three thread sizes 1/4x28 8x1.25 6x.75 I would try running a 1/4-28 tap down the bolster just to check before buying your nipples.

    Squirrel guns

I use a .36 cal and find it to be much easier to manage than a .32 as old fingers don't like small balls.

Pyrodex versesREAL Black powder short test:

I use 10gns 3F under my Pyrodex P charge in my flinters with 4F in the pan. I can't notice any difference in lock time and have worked up loads that match my BP loads over the chronograph. Since I have three pounds of 3F left, I figure I can last a couple years using Pyrodex if need be...

    A great day for rabbits

I loved your video. It brought me back 50 years ago when I would be hunting the fields of Louisiana. Thank you so much.

1851 Navy and a hammer: life lesson

Well, you can either build up the front sight or lower the rear sight but you may run out of rear sight before you bring the ball down where you want it. On 1860's, I make a higher front sight out of a brass key and expoxy it in with JB Weld. On 1851's i usually change out the front bead for a...

1851 Navy and a hammer: life lesson

I age my Cap and Ball pistols because the factory bluing is so thin, it scratches easily and looks unsightly. An age pistol with scratches looks appropriate considering the pistol is supposed to be an antique. I defarbed one in my lifetime, looked good but too much work for arthritic hands...

    Felt source? Over powder wads

I have been using these folks for over 25 years. You can call them and actually discuss your needs and they will tell you what felt to buy. Great folks.

    Powder Magazine

Before the covid, when I could find powder, I kept it in a plastic storage container in the woods. I do the same with my 50 gallons of gasoline. The powder was kept in a plastic bag that was purged of air. I kept both smokeless and BP and never experienced any degradation. The boxes never...

Wyoming BP made the local news.

My wife and I always vacationed in the West and love it except in the winter. Hell, I have seen the roads closed on Memorial Day due to snow.

Boredom leads to defarb of 58 remmy

Thanks for sharing. I have been using things like ketchup, mustard and tomato juice for some years and they do a nice job of making the metal look well used.

    Frosty bore???

No, frosting is not like deep pitting.

    Frosty bore???

Frosty usually means light surface rust. It is called "Frosty" because it won't look shiny when a light is shown on it. More often than not, it will clean up just by regular shooting and does not affect the accuracy of the firearm.

Boredom leads to defarb of 58 remmy

Nice job! Can you give us an idea of how you use the Plum Brown and Bleach? Do you mix them or use the bleach to wash out the brown?

    Need to cut Dovetail...

I have put the Uberti front sight for a '58 on my 1851 and it is much more enjoyable to shoot. All it took was a little filing using a dovetail file guide.
