    Buck vs Doe

I'm fortunate enough to live in Middle TN. Deer season starts the last Saturday in September and runs through to the 1st Sunday in January. The limit in Middle TN is 2 Bucks per year, but you can take up to three does PER DAY for the entire season. Of course, there are Archery...

    Punch size for 16ga?

Depending on the punch, you might could carefully polish the inside of the 17mm with a Dremel to reduce it a few .001's if they fit too tight as is...

    Wiping Stick

Awesome! So glad you’re back in the saddle…. Nice job with the wiping stick. I like it! I made some longbow arrows with river cane a while back…. Plans to do more, (but better!). That’s some amazing stuff. Super strong.

What Muzzleloading Stuff Did You Do Today?

Got up early this morning, got ready to hunt with my Kibler, but decided the perfect wind for the chair I had set up down the ridge was too perfect to pass up to hunt with my longbow. Actually got my first shot with a longbow at a small buck this morning. “At” being the operative word for a...

Main Charge Powder in the Frizzen Pan

I’m facing the same problem with Swiss…. A lot more leakage. I guess I’m simply going to have to start plugging the vent during reloading. I hate having to add a step to the process, tho. I may try Swiss 2F and see what happens with that.

Flintlock accuracy and need help finding load

That denim patch seems mighty thick if you’re shooting a ball only .010 less than the barrel. You might try some of the Joann drill cloth that mics to .018. It’s referred to as pocket drill or Item # 683532, or the OxYoke .018 ticking patches. A load doesn’t necessarily have to be super...

    anti-gun USPS

My Kibler shipping box was ripped open at one end when I received it and some of the extra items I ordered with the kit (extra jags and ramrod tips, etc) were missing. The rifle itself was still in good shape.

Main Charge Powder in the Frizzen Pan

Well, I've only been shooting dinger and swinger targets and everything paper has been offhand in windy conditions since I switched to Swiss. I'll have to do some sandbagged target shooting and keep track of the amount of powder I find in the pan. Some of the time there's been none, sometimes...

Main Charge Powder in the Frizzen Pan

I use 3fg powder in my Kibler SMR and get pretty good accuracy… I’ve been using Goex for the past 2 years that I’d bought in the early 90s, but I recently shot up the last of it. I’ve switched to Swiss 3fg that I bought before Goex came back on the market. Due to the local high humidity, after...

    Rain down the barrel?

There are gizmos called, “finger cots” that basically look like a small rubber condom, but are for protecting fingers (injured or not) during certain tasks. They’d work well for keeping water out. I found some at Walmart, but they’re usually found in the first aid section where you’d find...
