    Vent Pick Storage

Mine stays in the flint wallet I made. I don’t often need it, but it’s handy if I do. I made the pick from a scrap of curly maple I sanded round and a saddle stitching needle that has a dull point. Just epoxy the needle in…. Works a charm.

    Fire starting

When I was a kid growing up in north Georgia, we had 75 pine trees in our large yard. My Pop, brother and me would spend two or more weeks raking pine needles and picking up cones every year. I always ended up with blisters on my hands. We saved a lot of the cones. They make great fire...

    Offhand Accuracy

Pretty simple…. Buy a rifle with a high quality swamped barrel. It’s like shooting from a sandbag on a bench. Problem solved! 😬

What Muzzleloading Stuff Did You Do Today?

Would have loved to have come, but I just spent this past week camped ahead of our Tennessee Longhunters shoot. I’m still ragged out…. It was mighty chilly last week!

And I thought *I* lived in the boondocks…. Crawford is out there. Welcome from Middle Tennessee!

    Why a Fowler

I’d go with the 20ga Fowler…. It’s more of an all purpose gun, and if finances get or stay tight, u have more of what you really need until you can swing another. Hunting should be about getting close, anyway. Any yahoo can shoot something a long way off. Takes a little more finesse to get...

    Gardening ..again

You win. ;) I only had about 20 butternut this year. Gave 15 of 'em away and kept the biggest 5. I'll make a big batch of soup with the roasted squash, apples, and onion, add some salt. pepper & thyme and freeze it in serving sizes. I'll add some cream when I heat it up. That's about...

I made 12 half pints of pickled diced jalapeños yesterday…. The previous batch was sliced and in pint jars.

    Gardening ..again

I had really bad germination from seeds I started the year with from Rural King. Livingston seeds were a complete waste of time and money. Corn, cucumbers, green beans…. Next to nothing.

I’ve noticed that the set trigger on my SMR is a bit tight in its physical curled shape. The tension seems okay, but I will eventually want to straighten it just a little so it doesn’t pinch my finger so much. And I have average hands that aren’t chubby at all. The trigger radius seems awful...

That kinda makes sense. Hawkins were high-end desirables. Just like in today’s gun stores, you wouldn’t expect one to be filled with nothing but Weatherbys and the like. You see way more cheaper guns than high-end.

UPS has outdone itself. I'm actually impressed by how massive of a failure this is, even Kiblers famous crates are no match! INSURE YOUR STUFF FOLKS!

PVC Pipe is the answer. 4 to 6” diameter will hold most things with room for padding. You can run over it with a truck and it won’t break. Small screws and packing tape to hold on the end caps.

It’s just like any other gun, except if they run off you can’t watch ‘em right away because of the smoke. When you shoot one, reload right away. I’ve had lots of doubles with a muzzleloader. Just make your motions slow(ish) and smooth.
