    Modification of firearm question

I bet that you could sell that rifle for enough to buy a very nice pistol. Then you would have something much nicer than a cut down rifle.

    Accra-shot,small rifle primers temperature

A small pistol primer fires 777 just fine for me.

    Simple range rifle stand ideas

I like that. Quick, easy, and very functional. I need to make one just like it.

    Unfinished DGG 1858

Draw file the barrel and shoot it? Or list it in the classifieds - plenty of us like a good project and winter is coming.

    It's not museum quality

I like it. It looks authentic, not a display in a case.

    Stripping a Buttstock Finish?

Most of the factory finish can be scraped off with a piece of broken glass. No gooey mess or fumes.

    Simple range rifle stand ideas

From the Colorado Muzzleloading Association. A pretty simple add on to a rifle stand. A little tray could be very handy.

    Underhammer at a local show

If the show is still open wait until he is packing up and hit him with a low-ball offer.

What has more effect on POI, muzzle velocity or recoil.

I agree with Rum - it depends - on a whole lot of variables. A person could settle it for himself by firing a bunch of rounds with varied charges and projectiles through the same weapon at different ranges. Then when you are done, you will have results that only apply to one shooter and one...

    1858 grip

Interesting way to hang the holster. Has anybody tried it?

What has more effect on POI, muzzle velocity or recoil.

High stock butts are not a new idea. It has been done before.

The OLDEST in my BP collection …

If you got a chain fire it would just be more effective.

    grease applicators

And they are cheap. A win win situation.

    Uberti pock mark in frame

If they were machined from solid the price would be horrific.

What has more effect on POI, muzzle velocity or recoil.

Mr De Land did start this in the muzzleloading handgun section, so here is my two bits worth. Stock design has a lot to do with muzzle rise due to recoil - a Kentucky type or revolver will move a lot more than a TC Patriot due to the thrust line. A light pistol will move more than a very heavy...

What has more effect on POI, muzzle velocity or recoil.

If the bullet was gone from the barrel before the weapon moved it wouldn't make any difference how the gun was held. Or even held at all. That isn't the case since different holds cause large impact changes. A loose one hand hold on my 1851 shoots high left compared to a tight two hand grip...

    Notch in hammer cup

Hey 52 - is that your shotgun and if so do you have more photos? That's a really nice gun.
