    Cylinder Loading Tool

I made one very similar to this. The pin fits a Remington and the bushing is for a Colt. Mine are both 44's so I didn't need rammer adapters. Works fine and I made it from stuff I already had.

    Cylinder Loading Tool

I have to take the cylinder out to clean the storage oil out anyhow, so I use a homemade loader before I put it back together. Then when I go out to shoot I leave the loader home. So my answer is yes and no I guess.

Remember this Davy Crockett movie scene?

Things look a lot different in color.

Nipples: To Remove Or Not Remove

Before you pop a cap get some aquarium tube and blow through the nipple. That will tell if it is clear without having to do a cleaning job.

    Elk calling

Google it. Lots of info from the archery guys.

    Issues with new Pietta.

I think the cnc machining is what leaves sharp edges in all of the cuts. I smoothed everything with a small diamond file including the hammer slot. It's noticeably smoother now. Mine is a 2023 model. I didn't really remove any metal to speak of. Just took off the sharp edges. Take the barrel...

Where/how can I get a cheap powder horn? I can DIY most of it, I’m not picky.

I got a couple from ebay. Very inexpensive and they work fine. No, they aren't authentic.

This guy really, really wanted a hand gonne

Wow! That's a lot of work for sure. I don't have a real problem with the pinned breech but I would have used more or larger ones.

    Found my old Handgonne

I did exactly what miner49 did and it turned out nice. Mine was a "hardwood dowel" from Home Depot. I gave it away at a rondie raffle and it was well received. Sold lots of tickets. Yours is prettier.

If it works, all is well. Nice day shooting.

Very nice. I missed it earlier. I do hope you never have to use them but just in case .....

    Did I ruin grips

I'll add this to my "never do" list. I'm with Phil - dry it slowly in a cool place and hope it doesn't crack. Then sand and finish again. Good luck.

    Unknown, possibly Asian, flintlock.

That's a nice job of forming the butt plate and trigger guard. If the maker was as careful with the barrel and breech plug it might be fine. Easy for me to say from a distance, huh?

    Carburetor cleaner

Carb cleaner is a quick way to get the storage oil out of a revolver cylinder before loading.

"Gun locks, gun locks? We don't need no stinkin' gun locks!"

A couple inches of cannon fuse will fix you right up. Plenty of time to light it and then take aim.

Muzzleloading shops and ranges in Huntsville, AL?

This is off topic but go down to the Space and Rocket Center. You can stand under a real, genuine Saturn 5 rocket. The only one left in the world. This is a leftover, the rest of them went to the moon.

I couldn't find a forum that matched this perfectly but this is close enough.

Do a search for the "cast boolits" forum. Yes, that is the spelling. They have a large powder making section.

Here to anger some more people on my antics. 5.5in barrel pieta for hunting.

Fun experiments. Don't hurt yourself but let us know how it goes.

    DIY caps

Go for it. I don't have his particular cap maker but the prime all mix works well. At the very least you will be shooting again for a fraction of the price of new caps. If you can even find them. I am very pleased that I don't have to be scrounging around trying to find over priced caps. Be...

Rarest mzloading item in the world right now

I make 28 at a time and it takes about an hour. An hour a day for a week is a lot of caps for me.
