    what is your favorite rifle?

My current fav is my Henry trade rifle in .50 cal. Very nicely balanced gun that fits neatly in my hand. It’s like handling a single shot .22 in terms of ergonomics. Super easy to shoot and hit offhand at 25-50m. As a bonus, it was built by a forum member here!

Does a RB travel with constant rotation, or accelerate?

Good question, Larry. The bullet won’t spin faster or slower until/ unless an external force acts upon it. This usually happens when it impacts something. If you could fire a round ball in outer space, it would keep spinning and spinning and spinning at the same rate as when it left the muzzle.

    Charge not going off, help

I agree with C6 on this one. You’ll sleep better knowing you’ve fixed it, even if you have to drive a bit out of your way to get it done. Just chalk it up to part of the learning curve and don’t beat yourself up over it. Think about what went wrong, how it went wrong an what you can do...

    Charge not going off, help

Yes, but it’s ugly. Removing the breech. I’d recommend *if* that became necessary that you have a gunsmith do it for you.

    Charge not going off, help

Man, hate to hear it. Worst case scenario: you're unable to get the thing out for a few days and you get some rust. CLP or WD40 on a bit of fine steel wool will sort that out. Can wrap it around your jag as well in little tufts. I’ve dry balled more times than I care to admit, so I’m kind of...

    Charge not going off, help

OP, hopefully you find these fascinating debates about organic chemistry useful in your task of removing a stuck ball from your bore. How’s that actual problem going, by the way?

    Charge not going off, help

Try pushing some fresh dry powder thru the vent hole a few grains at a time with your pick. It doesn’t take much to get the ball clear of the bore.

    Smart Balls

I can’t tell if this is a question about angular momentum or about seeing straight.

It needs to be said, but I didn’t think it needed to be said here. No use getting muddy for nothing. But, thanks.

Using an electric pot for casting balls

If you get a chance, post a pic or two of your setup. I’m going to be getting started casting soon, so if you’d share your success and failures it would give me a better starting place too.

Nevermind, it’s not worth the energy.

Using an electric pot for casting balls

Cool. So are your pouring directly from your pot into a mould with a pour spout, skipping the need for a ladle?

Here’s an update on my stuff. I bought two rifles from two forum members here recently. One, mailed via USPS from FL to TX, was sent on the 17th and finally arrived in my city on Sat night, but hasn’t yet been delivered. The other, sent FedEx from Alaska on the 29th is on a truck for delivery...

Smoke at Sunrise (Pietta London Navy Update)

My Remington is also playing second fiddle to my old ASM 1851. It’s just so....coooool. Classic. I guess if I were gonna be in an 18th century gunfight I’d want the Remmy, but if I was gonna be in a movie I’d want the Colt for sure. 😎

    Hello from Michigan

Welcome from Texas. Ask any questions about your new revolver and the folks on the forum will be happy to help. Some folks here have been shooting since the 40s I think!

    Good place for flints

I buy flints for my Bess at Track of the Wolf. 1 inch flints work great. Edit: here’s the one ToW recommends:
