Jag and Rod stuck in barrel

Yeah I have no idea why it stuck. Especially in a clean barrel. The jag is smaller than the supposed calibre

Jag and Rod stuck in barrel

Oh ok, I actually didn't know that's how the jagged worked but makes sense! So you say grind it down some so that it fits easily with a patch?

Jag and Rod stuck in barrel

I'll remember that, sounds like a good rule to follow.

Jag and Rod stuck in barrel

YES YES YES THIS WORKED! Thank you! Did just the trick, one big yank and it slid right out. Ram rod is pretty bent but atleast my bore is cleared again. Thanks everyone! Hopefully this is the last big issue I have, learned enough now to hopefully not have anymore big problems.

Jag and Rod stuck in barrel

Since the rod is only about 2 feet in and nowhere near being seated, would that not just create a pipe bomb?

Jag and Rod stuck in barrel

Forgot to mention, it's metal, so it's a tad bit harder to get a good grip on it.

Jag and Rod stuck in barrel

Yeah I am baffled as to why and how it got stuck. Just gonna stick with a worm instead of a jag from now on I think.

Jag and Rod stuck in barrel

I definitely have a c-clamp somewhere, gonna go look for it now, this sounds promising.

Jag and Rod stuck in barrel

Thanks, this sounds like the best way to go about attaching the rod to something. Time to look around for a leather belt. Not to sure how to secure it on the rod though without it just slipping right off

Jag and Rod stuck in barrel

The barrel is clean, no fouling in it :/

Jag and Rod stuck in barrel

Yeah it's strange, might just stick with a patch worm from now on after I get this thing out. I put lots of oil in there already, but I guess I'll try securing the rod, seems to be the general consensus

Jag and Rod stuck in barrel

I really am haha, it just seems to be one thing after another. I have at least 2 feet of rod sticking out, didn't get stuck very far down. So I guess pulling it will work, just with a different method like that?

Jag and Rod stuck in barrel

Not even with a patch; Trying out the new jag I finally got, fit it on the rod and ran it down the barrel, and it is stuck about halfway. Won't budge whatsoever. The jag is the proper size for my bore and everything, no idea why it stuck or how to get it un-stuck. It's a .75 cal smoothbore btw.

    Charge not going off, help

It fired lots before the misfire occurred so it probably wasn't the oil causing it per se.. but I am definitely guilty of that lol. I'll be sure to swab it out before I shoot next time and store it barrel down from now on. Ugh, that sounds like a royal pain, but I guess just like this was for...

    Charge not going off, help

I was even able to do it with 2f, but yeah I was definitely surprised it worked with wet powder!

    Charge not going off, help

You're absolutely right. just had to shake it around a bit and the powder went in no problem!
  17. JohannesKepler

    Charge not going off, help

SUCESS!!!!! Filled the touch hole with probably 20 or so grains, went off with a hiss and boom. So relieved. Cleaned it as soon as I got home, now it's oiled up and should be good to go. Thank you everyone for helping out, and for suggesting this rather than me waiting for the ball puller to get...

    Charge not going off, help

Definitely is, I loaded it with a cartridge so powder went in first. I think there's a touch hole liner, so I can't really feel in to the charge. But I will still fill up the touch hole and see how it goes.

    Charge not going off, help

Oh wow, so some dry powder in the touch hole will ignite the wet powder?? Ok I'll definitely be trying it, thanks!

    Charge not going off, help

Picked the vent fairly good yesterday back when it first occurred, but I will try and clear it out even better. The HEET will dry it out right? Hopefully allowing everything to ignite. I'll try that and then pack it with powder. Hoping this will work, will head out in a bit. I'll report back...
