    ? about Walker Flask

Is this a historically accurate way to carry the Walker Flask? I saw this on an online auction.

    Colt Cochise Commemorative

I purchased the Colt Cochise Dragoon mostly because I found out I am part Choctaw/Apache on my mother’s side when doing my genealogy research and DNA test. Thought it might be cool to have to pass down to my son one day. Mine was in pristine condition, never cocked, with Sam Colt signed...

Best methods pouring round balls and/or gear recommendations

Absolutely. I just can’t help but wonder how much lead could be melted in my wife’s Dutch oven every time I look at it.

I’m surprised that she didn’t cast-rate your balls. Lol! My wife caught me using her butter knife as a screwdriver once. I’ll never make THAT mistake again. By the way, be sure not to use your wife’s good muffin pans to cast ingots. Ask me how I know.

    Kerr Bullets in an 1858?

What distance were you from the log to get that 6” of penetration? Thanks.

Best methods pouring round balls and/or gear recommendations

I will be casting Kerr bullets for the first time. I have a Lyman lead pot and eras gone mold, dipper and 15 lbs of lead ingots. As for fluxing, I have heard people using sawdust and beeswax. How much is needed and can anyone offer any tips? Never done this before.

    Kerr Bullets in an 1858?

The English Kerr was a gun that was imported by the Confederacy. I think that these bullets were made for it. I heard that the Kerr was used widely by the South, but I wonder if it was ever used by Union troops at all.

    Kerr Bullets in an 1858?

I can’t wait to try them. Just got my mold a few days ago. Just waiting on my lead order.

Cap Channel Missing on Uberti Dragoon

Why would anyone want to turn a Dragoon into a Walker? That would be a Frankenstein gun for sure. Lol but if you did what would it be called? A Dalker? A Wagoon?

Cap Channel Missing on Uberti Dragoon

I don’t think is possible to swap cylinders from a Dragoon to a Walker unless the arbors are swapped, but also a Walker has a longer cylinder than a Dragoon. Not sure how that head space would work, or if there would be timing issues with the rotation. Seems risky.

    Caps

Yep, people just don’t understand about things like that. People list civil war bullets on eBay. But if I take that same bullet and attach a paper tube, and fill it with black sand, it is now a cartridge and a firearm accessory and therefore the listing is removed. I can buy brass sheeting on...

    Caps

It seems kind of strange that Toy caps are much more volatile and more apt to ignite than percussion caps, yet they are not bound to the same Hazmat regulations as percussion caps are. The Prime-All compound is not bound by such restrictions because it is inert until the components are mixed...

    Caps

2300 caps is one good weekend of skirmishes at a reenactment. That isn’t too many to have on hand.

All this was given to me as a gift from my brother.

You REALLY need to watch them. Even better than Lonesome Dove in some ways. Lonesome Dove is like the second to the last of Gus and Calls adventures. You need to watch Deadman’s Walk, Comanche Moon, and Streets of Laredo, and Return to Lonesome Dove.

Have you seen all of the prequels?

Wish I could sling two of them like Josey Wales. Lol. I also got this Colt Dragoon for 200.00 last week. I couldn’t believe my luck. The guy at the pawnshop didn’t even know what it was. It was missing 2 screws which I have coming this week. This one is a signature model with Sam Colt Signature...

Yep Texas Jack was a Legend. One thing Also is if your a Lonesome Dove fan, the real life story of Oliver Loving and Charlie Goodnight is even better than the movie. It was what Lonesome Dove was based off of.

I never get tired of Texas History.

Absolutely! That’s another reason why I love Greg Abbot. Wish I still lived in Texas.
