    Unknown Maker

I have a 40 caliber caplock rifle in the style of a southern rifle. It is unmarked except for this stamp on the lockplate and the caliber stamped in the trigger guard. Can anyone identify the maker? I feel certain it is a 20th century made gun. Possibly a kit.
