    screwdrivers

Another vote for Brownell - I keep the smaller set in my range bag & the master set at home. Half as many individual wood handle screwdrivers would take up too much space.

    Powder horn sizing plug

A boat supply such as West Marine will sell you a "bung" kit - a small bag of various sizes of tapered wood plugs intended to be driven into a hose or thru-hull fitting that has failed & is flooding the boat. Bigger boats use bigger sizes sold individually. PS - without a lathe to turn the base...

Searching for plan of a f18th C folding Camp bed

Do a search for William Toons camp furnishings - very authentic & pricey but you should be able to design/copy a bed after seeing his website

Do you prefer 3F or 4F for priming ?

I use 3f so as to have one less thing to mess with - no priming horn. Any difference in ignition time is offset by 4f being more prone to "soup" up in eastern VA humidity. I still have 3/4 of a can of 4f should I want to retry it.

    1841 8" howitzer carriage

A "DuckDuckGo" search found an on line copy (original held at Harvard U.) of "Ordnance Instructions for the United States Navy" 2nd ed 1860. On page 52 is a detailed drawing (plan & elevation) of a Marsilly carriage for a 9" Dahlgren. Thanks to Mrs Coot's computer skills, I now have a scale...

    1841 8" howitzer carriage

Thanks for the reply. Unless I find more info, I will use your plan image to fill in missing size/shapes after scaling up the image of one of these guns sitting on a ship's deck (its a quarter view so not so easy to scale from).

    Ditch The Patch Knife

I am using a machete to cut patches on my .75 blunderbuss but am still not getting moa accuracy. Maybe I should sharpen the blade??

    Do they mix?

I have had WD 40 dry out leaving a sticky residue that gummed up delicate parts (HO couplers, modern gun internals, etc). WD 40 may be great for its designed water displacement uses and ok as a (coarse mechanism) lube when fresh, but there are much better lubricant and rust preventative products...

    1841 8" howitzer carriage

I recently bought a little (1/2" bore) barrel that matches the US 1841 8"siege howitzer and want to make a carriage for it. I found an image of such a gun mounted on what looks like a Marsilly (sp?) carriage. Solid little wheels are much easier to make than big spoked wheels so that is the type...

    Silver Plating Revolver Parts?

I would ask Royal Silver Plating in tidewater Virginia - they do all kinds of plating.

    Cabelas/ Bass Pro?

The local Cabelas used to have a decent selection of modern guns in their "Gun Library". The same space now has nothing but camo gear & backpacks - not a single gun of any type. Now I am reduced to looking for deals at the grocery store across the street from Cabelas.

What ratio of PSF / acetone do you use? I need to get some old brass valves apart.

Are you still growing your Garden?

Harvested about a five gallon pail of hops today. Should have some more in a few weeks. Any home brewers in VA?

    Loyalists

Most likely a significant reason that the US attempt to take over Canada in the War of1812 was not "simply a matter of marching"

    Loyalists

The majority were not treated well. Maya Jasanoff's "Liberty's Exiles" gives a good account of the dispersion of Loyalists throughout the British Empire.

Antique Cannon Construction - Sage Advice Needed

Morphy Auctions just sold four bronze signal cannons. Three were breech loading using 10 or 12 gauge black powder blanks. One was a muzzle loader. I believe they went from $1200 to $3000.
