Making a wedge for the 1860

Well I'll take a try in answering your question. "Why not just buy one?" I definitely understand what you're saying, time wise verses dollar cost would make a good reason to buy. But since nearly my entire life has been spent making products mainly out of metal for my employers, home...

Making a wedge for the 1860

Making a Wedge for the 1860 These are the steps that were used to make a wedge for the Uberti 1860 Army Colt. Used O-1 tool steel, other tool steels would work just fine also. Starting with a rectangular piece of the dimensions 1.100" long by .562" wide by .200 thick. The center of the wedge...

Do you aim or point and shoot instinctively?

When I was the age to first have a 22 rimfire (early 1950's) my Dad and I was at a gun club that had a guest shooter. Herb Parsons who represented Winchester was there to show Winchester's and his shooting skills. Herb started the show using a Model 63 22 rimfire shooting at washers in which he...

Poll: What do you use your muzzleloader for?

Just to be able to caress a gun not made of any plastic parts. The wonderful feel and looks of wood and steel combined with the knowledge that skilled workmanship was used in making. God Bless the Old Days.

    Engraved Name on Barrel

No, It is a simple 2 dimension engraving machine that is used to engrave name tags and other things like plates for trophies. It uses fonts to guide the machine and uses a small cutter to actually cut the metal. This is a picture of a older engraver.

    Engraved Name on Barrel

A little 2D engraver is used a lot on a flat surface. And there should be nearby people that do that work. But if the barrel is round then it is more involved.

    Rust Bluing Revolver Advice

Uberti, bought the extra barrel and loader and did the machine work to have a 6 inch barrel. With the shorter sight radius the same height front sight installed, puts it on the money at normal pistol ranges. Hardly ever put the 8 inch barrel on. I wanted it to have a used older look and it...

Picked up an old N.O.S. Uberti 3rd Dragoon

You can double that for me also. And Timber Wolf, Very nice find. You should have a lot of fun with that new handgun. Good luck with a great find.

Why are the bottom of some Uberti grip frames (Colt Dragoon) not parallel to the barrel? (and can this be fixed?)

Trying to fix this condition is probably more trouble than it is worth. Besides there could be other details such as trigger pull, action tuning, or the famous short arbor that may be of more importance to you. But I do agree, Engineers' do incorporate ideas on occasion that make you wonder if...
