    Missouri... anyone?

I hear you there. Well, I'd be open to meeting up some time if you wanted to shoot--let me know what days/times you are typically free. I'm 45, married with two kiddos-so I have to plan most stuff--although it's a bit easier now that one is off to college :). Good advice here. Live on about...

Well, a comedy of errors---but I learned a bit about shotgun muzzleloading :)

Just to add this, as I believe a couple of posters mentioned how great @simonbeans belly box was--when searching Etsy I found this guy who makes the leather boxes with inserts (Etsy is everything Ebay wanted to be back in the day--truly my favorite 'shopping' site on the internet): Cartridge...

    Missouri... anyone?

Hey there! It's been ages since I went to Pigeon Hill--although my house is close enough to it I can hear them shooting at clear/crisp days with some south wind. The area I hunt (about 60 acres) is about a 5 minute 4-wheeler ride from my house and I usually can hear them on southern wind days...

Well, a comedy of errors---but I learned a bit about shotgun muzzleloading :)

Good advice there and thanks for the kind words! I definitely don't want to screw up with my new pup and you are quite right, the 'other chainsaw' can always come later with him :) I'm surprised at the # of posters suggesting I go ahead and drill out the Pedersoli touch hole, guess that's a...

Well, a comedy of errors---but I learned a bit about shotgun muzzleloading :)

Well if you’re going to twist my arm and make me post pics of my buddy, sure! He's a pointing lab from Lankas Labs in Kansas. Mike and his wife run a great business and has always been responsive, helpful and is extremely experienced with gun dogs. Since this is my first, I have nothing to...

Well, a comedy of errors---but I learned a bit about shotgun muzzleloading :)

Thanks for all the replies. I was unsure if my lack of experience meant it would be doable and I just had a rough day at the range---or if it was really always going to be an issue (dog and muzzle). I believe I'm convinced of the latter. I'll just save the Pedersoli for field action when my...

Well, a comedy of errors---but I learned a bit about shotgun muzzleloading :)

Thought I had done enough research and had all the bits/gear I need. As you can see from my post count, I'm new to muzzleloading--got a Kibler this past year and had great success with it. This forum was super helpful and has been my bible. Since I happened to be getting a pup as my first...

Pedersoli 20 ga testing today--any last minute advice?

Surprised to hear that's too much powder---the barrel actually has 75 grains and 1 oz marked on it?

Pedersoli 20 ga testing today--any last minute advice?

Going to test my Pedersoli 20 GA SxS flint later today for the first time. I've done quite a bit of research but wanting to make sure I'm not missing anything before heading out later. I'm using the following load: 4f Pan Primer (I understand I could use 3f but I have quite a bit of 4f and...

    First flint deer+Larger replacment lock?

Good looking buck, congrats! I'd second the notion of going all in and getting a Kibler rifle. It uses a 7/8x1 flint and I have yet to experience a misfire, hangfire or any other issue with mine. They're great rifles.

#7 shot for Pedersoli side by side 20 ga

Ok based on replies, I believe I'm going with this: https://www.rotometals.com/eagle-magnum-lead-shot-25-lbs-bag/ Magnum lead appears to resist deformation from what I've read--but not enough to damage a barrel right? :) As you can tell--I've read about some barrel deformation when people...

#7 shot for Pedersoli side by side 20 ga

I'm looking to do some upland hunting with my 20 Ga Pedersoli side by side. I'm new to shotgun muzzleloading and I'm trying to track down a good source for #7 non-toxic shot to do my loads. Does anyone have a good suggestions? I located this...

Pedersoli 20 Gauge Side by Side Flintlock--any experiences?

Considering getting a 20 gauge side by side Flintlock by Pedersoli. Would be for some clay shooting and pheasant hunting. Any experiences with this gun (Or general comments on Pedersoli flints)...

    Finally got my first Deer

Not seeing blood and thinking you missed---then subsequently finding the animal afterwards--that feeling is impossible to get otherwise. Congrats on your hunt!

First buck with Kibler Flintlock--thanks to the forum

Thanks for all the kind words! One thing I learned in my first year hunting with this is--deer stands were not made with Kentucky Longrifle dimensions or weight in mind! 😄 Regarding the caliber and load: It is a 50 cal and I use 75 grains of 3F holy black with 4F pan powder. I will add a...

First buck with Kibler Flintlock--thanks to the forum

About 50 yds out, with a hot doe in his nose--wouldn't really stop for me so had to lead him and shot a bit further forward than I wanted. Did nab one lung on the backside though and he only went about 50 yards though before crashing out. Many thanks to this forum. From reading all the great...

Kibler Flintlock--question about cleaning and spots on barrel

In a world full of grumbly people, this forum is always so nice, helpful and knowledgeable. Thanks so much everyone for the help/replies and setting my paranoia at ease!

Kibler Flintlock--question about cleaning and spots on barrel

Been shooting my Kibler for about 3-4 months. This past weekend I took it on a hunt with me and it got a lot of use. I did clean it that night, although it wasn't my usual "over the top" clean. I didn't barricade it, as I planned on cleaning it again when I got home the next day--which I did...

Kibler Colonial .50 cal---debating on my load

Thanks so much for all the replies--I'll start at 55 and work my way up to find my load--excited to get it out in the field now that it's not 110 heat index! I also got my replacement shooting patches in and mink oil (that's a funky smell!), appreciate the heads up on that.
