Kibler Colonial .50 cal---debating on my load

Thanks much for the help. I was indeed talking about 80 grains--not grams :). Didn't know that about pre-lube patches, I will remedy that. Just to be clear, you are talking about dry shooting patches like this: https://www.trackofthewolf.com/Categories/PartDetail.aspx/182/1/OX-15-50-D and...

Kibler Colonial .50 cal---debating on my load

Have yet to shoot, hoping to next weekend. I have shot percussion cap muzzles before though, this is my first flint. I'm debating on the load right now. This will be mainly a hunting gun, I don't shoot match competitions or have any plans on that. So I'd like to make sure my load can punch a...

Kibler American Colonial Rifle Dimensions (overall length)

Hate to have a weird ask like this--but if someone has a finished Kibler Colonial--do you mind taking a picture of it on a table with a tape measure running it's length? I know the LOP is 13ish" and the barrel is 43ish" for a total of 56"ish inches--but want to make sure. I'm having a custom...

How long do you let your powder sit in the bore between sits?

Appreciate all the replies! I'll leave her loaded with a safety tag on it, bore covered for humidity and change out the primer between stalks. Now hopefully a whitetail accommodates me this coming year! Thanks again, Ryan

Well I’m glad you guys mentioned how bad bore butter was. I went and dry swabbed my bore today and the damn pad came out orange tinged! Not sure if that’s a sign of rust or the butter but I dry swabbed it clean then swabbed a soaked WD-40 pad down the barrel to hopefully protect it!

How long do you let your powder sit in the bore between sits?

Thanks for all the replies, really appreciate the help! The area I hunt is essentially my 'backyard' and within an ATV ride. Only kiddo in house is 15 going on 16 and shoots regular with me--so a loaded muzzle/percussion in my study overnight without a cap on it and a 'LOADED' tag doesn't make...

How long do you let your powder sit in the bore between sits?

That's what I assumed (and hoped!). I've been told to coat the inner bore with bore butter (which I did after this last cleaning). Does that change the equation any at all? do you still test fire a cap before riding over to your stand? Thanks again!

How long do you let your powder sit in the bore between sits?

Greetings all. As you can tell by my post count, I'm a new member and new to muzzleloading. Son and I have put the percussion .50 c through the paces and I'm feeling pretty good 100 yards out. So this season, I plan on trying my luck at a whitetail with it. I got one with an inline last year...

Thanks everyone! I’m about 40 miles north of Kansas City so unfortunately Pacific or St. Louis is a bit of a stretch for me! That said my daughter will be attending college at Cape Girardeau so maybe I’ll try to stop by later this year to say hi when we move her. I’ll flag your names and reach...
