    Black powder revolver for protection

State laws vary. But regardless of the law a disqualified person found carrying loaded would probably still find themselves explaining it to a judge because the police oftentimes don't even know the laws they enforce themselves.

    Who has derringers?

They recommend ffffg but fffg can work too. It is reported that bullseye smokeless and close to two grains can push that 30 grain projectile at 1200 ft per second. Supposedly it's safe to do so because those guns are made of the same surgical stainless that all of their cartridge models are. I...

North American Arms Companion Cap and Ball .22

A 22 air gun pellet is 5.5 mm while the 22 firearm is 5.6. could increase the risk of a chain fire. Plus the traditional air gun pellet design oftentimes will leave the skirt of the pellet in the bore as they are not designed for that pressure. However they do make 22 air gun slugs often in...

    Who has derringers?

And.....I ordered it ! Now it's off to powder valley for some 4fg. Hopefully I can find Hodgkin's triple 7 in that granulation

    Who has derringers?

You know I'm really considering getting one. I found the super companion model for $325 in stock. It comes with 250 projectiles and a spare cylinder with nipples and a loading lever stand and also a small leather flap type holster. And I think a small locking case.

You rock banger, lol. I might have to get me one of those someday.

How far down do you clean?

Makes perfect sense. I got my 1858 from the pawn shop so that would mean I am at least the second owner. Upon removing the trigger guard there was a lot of crud on that so I'm sure there's more up inside. So I'm thinking I'll go ahead and disassemble it to give it a thorough cleaning but...

    Percussion caps #10s and #11s

Amazingly I found a pack of 100 Remington tens at the local gun store today. I went ahead and bought them even though I have replaced my stock nipples on my 1858 with the slix shots. Number 11 fit the stock nipples loosely but they fit the slix shots just fine. So if anything I might have to...

    Current percussion cap source

Scored 100 Remington tens at the local gun store today. Went in looking for balestall an amazingly they had a can they did not have last week. It was the last can but there were four more packages of musket caps. If anyone in Southwest Florida is looking for those let me know and I'll tell you...

    Who has derringers?

Has anyone seen the North American arms 22 cap and ball revolver called the companion? And then they have the super companion which just has a longer cylinder to stuff some powder in. Not exactly a historically accurate reproduction but a fun looking little gun nonetheless. The nipple wrench is...

How far down do you clean?

I had considered grits actually. But I just went with my time tested one square of cheap Scott toilet tissue. Of course you wouldn't want to be shooting in a very fire-prone area because the toilet paper sometimes catches fire when it comes out.

    Who has derringers?

Or maybe I should say boot gun or vest pistol or pocket pistol.... I've been looking to get one for some time now and every place I look they are always out of stock. Have any of you guys had one like the screw barrel pedersoli? Then there's an interesting one in 31 caliber, but of course...

    Current percussion cap source

A few years back I traded a gun with someone and I threw in 300 percussion caps.... Been kicking myself in the ass for that one.

How far down do you clean?

Not just the heat but very high humidity here in Southwest Florida right now. Praying for a quiet hurricane season. Florida born and raised all of my life and hurricane Ian last year was something else all together. I live in DeSoto county and for some reason those hurricanes like to go right up...

Things said that make me want to shoot alone

Glad I have access to private property. Never been to a shooting range in my life.

    Percussion caps #10s and #11s

I'm still sitting on 400 so I'm not paying that elevated price unless I'm just out. Firing about maybe 40 shots a year I can afford to wait

How far down do you clean?

I have heard some people are very partial to their own mixture of beeswax and lambs tallow. That boar butter stuff is just too runny. Anytime you fire a few rounds it gets warm and starts to run right off.

It happened again today at the public range...........

So many experts on all things cartridge.... Really don't know very much at all about muzzleloading guns. Anytime I shoot my cap and ball people are quite fascinated by that.

    Percussion caps #10s and #11s

The good thing about powder valley is the no minimum order on powder and the $20 hazmat fee. You can just buy a pound if you want but I'm going to get a couple. Also good news. I watched a video that seemed pretty legit at one of the gun shows where CCI officials were present. It said that...

How far down do you clean?

I shot 12 rounds yesterday and I actually took and smeared some real butter in the bore before shooting. Just on that first shot but I do believe it did make hot soapy water clean up easier. The butter was all that I had. Lol. I also do something else that some people might scoff at. And I have...
