    Looks like i got burned

Powder valley still has it and they're good about business. I have ordered two times from them and the recent past and had no problems

Buy a dual sport dirt bike instead, like I did. It only cost me a little over 7,000 out the door and I can ride it every day of the year here in Florida. But I guess if you throw in that $3,000 for those two screws I now have in my ankle....lol. It was my own fault but let's just say a dirt...

    2023 Fall Squirrel Season...........

Haven't hunted any bushy tails in many years but a good quality 22 pellet rifle was my go-to.... Primarily because it was what I had available.

    Storing Powder & Caps

I just keep mine in the house in a cabinet that is used only for that. It is just me and my girlfriend and she is very well aware of what is stored there and to keep any potential ignition source away. I suppose if you have children around it could be another story. I just bought some powder...

    Homemade Nipple Wrench

I have a little North American arms super companion and I like the nipples on it. Instead of needing a nipple wrench at all they make the inside of the nipple the shape of a small allen wrench and that is your nipple wrench. Good job on improvising one.

They probably won't be by lunch time tomorrow

So what's the most common muzzleloader you guys are hunting them with? Is it shotgun or small bore caliber?
  8. SwampBilly

    "Seasoning" the bore...

Just get you a strip of raw bacon and rub it up and down the bore. Lol

Went back to Walmart today and sure enough they are already sold out. I did score me a nice brass 30 grain spout powder flask. I have 700 caps and I'm waiting on my 250 RWS caps to get here tomorrow. And I really don't shoot all that often so I feel like I'm well stocked up for a while.

So I was about to pull the Trigger on a nice Uberti 1858 but I think I might change my mind...

I replaced my stock nipples with slixshot and I don't have to pinch caps anymore and cap jams are much reduced.

Why I would recommend someone not get into muzzleloading

Powder valley had the 250 count package of RWS caps for $36. They had two of them and one was a dollar more but I think those were the magnums? I seen one of them was out of stock the other day so I said what the hell I'll get some and another pound of powder. Glad I did because it wasn't...

Why I would recommend someone not get into muzzleloading

I believe it is already happening. I scored CCI number 11 at my local Walmart the other day and I haven't seen them there in years so I'm almost fairly certain they must be new stock

Well I am in DeSoto county Florida which is about as Florida redneck cracker as It gets. I guess if you live in a big city or the Northeast, you're SOL on the Walmart tip

Powder charge. How much powder do you use.

I saw a video of a guy purposely overloading a muzzleloader and firing it remotely to see what sort of load would actually damage it. First he double charged the gun which could be a common mistake if someone isn't paying attention. There was no damage. It was something like a hawken rifle and...

What kind of caps did they have on the peg just below the CCI's ? Were they just more CCI's ? I think the last time I found caps at my Walmart was 2019 or maybe it was 2018 and they were Winchester magnums.

Since I started shooting black powder in about 2014 they have always gone bang for me. I suspect a lot of percussion cap misfires might be due to the nipples and the amount of oil in the gun versus the actual percussion cap itself?

Try finding someone around sporting goods who seems like they should know about stock issues and try to press them for information and see when they might get them? All you can do is get a blank look, but you might get some useful information from someone.
