I loved Black MZ too. It was supposedly made for Hornady by A.P.P. but for some reason they can't make anything that good themselves!?🤔

So I've been shooting Shooter's World ( A.P.P.) 3f powder for a year now getting fair groups out to 50 yards but no hits on paper at 100. So today I drug out the chronograph and found some answers. 75 grains with patched ball gave me 850 to 1050 fps. What!!!!????? So I get out the T-7. 1600 fps...

Many moons ago I showed an eager group of Boy scouts how to load and fire my 54 cal TC. Light loads of course. They loved it!👍

I finally made it out with my smoke pole today. 10 roundball shots, about 6 with my cast improved Minnie's and three 525 grain No Excuses Conicals. All smacked my 8 inch plate at 50 yards. The 525's slammed the whole target hanger to the ground. No misses or sight adjustment for all three loads...

Even a patch shredding barrel will shoot good at 25 yards. Try 50 yards.

No Excuses bullets used to (and still might) make a 600 grain 45 cal muzzleloader bullet. I shoot 525 grain boolits in my 54 but suspect the bigger hole in the bore reduces pressure and recoil compared to a 45.

How much powder do you have to burn to launch those heavy slugs?

Something is wrong with me(ask my wife) I like the smell of ballistol! Then again my sinuses have been roto rootered 5 times. Don't use it so much for cleaning as I do lubing patches or wads. Yes I'm weird!

I have a blaze orange camo hoodie I bought while living in N. W. Montana. Idaho has no blaze orange requirements but I still wear it.

I've found some of my rifles like a felt wad when using REAL conicals. Just never know until you burn some powder.
