    T/C Maxi Balls and Elk

I took the TC mold and made the top ring larger and thicker, hoping for better bite on the rifling. Also opened the second groove up, and made the body larger. I have not tested these yet, but also made some that are a bit harder. [Red in color] Blue are soft , red are harder. Eastwood power...

    T/C Maxi Balls and Elk

    T/C Maxi Balls and Elk

I am going to try some 40:1 for my bullets. Also, I have read only to lube the bottom groove on the Maxi ball.

    T/C Maxi Balls and Elk

What is the twist, and what is the accuracy that you get with the Maxi ball? The main thing is getting a bullet that shoots well. I have a 1-28 twist barrel that shoots a 520 grain bullet. A bit harder than soft, but loads with just a little resistance and stays down on the powder.

    More pain for science!

My musket nipples have a .155 hole leading to with in .080 of bottom. In the .080 bottom is a .032 hole. The key is getting more flame into the .032 hole. Some nipples I have bought have a dinky upper hole.

    .62 cal speed loaders available

At least with a 62 you have a bigger hole to use!

    .62 cal speed loaders available

Have you ever tried one of the plastic types on the run. Half the powder when on the ground! Real experience! Paper is not perfect, but you can figure out a way to keep it dry and ready. I have done several tests, comparing first patched shot to the second of a tapered paper cartridge. They...

    Pedersoli Kodiak from 1976

My Trail Guns Armory double 50 likes a .495 and levi patch. It loads hard, but shoots well. I made lighter trigger springs, now I have nice triggers. I cock and shoot the left barrel first. The longer rear trigger pulls easier. This leaves the right side to cock and shoot if needed. Easier...

    Wads

I am getting good groups with the 4 band Lee bullets in my 1 in 36 twist. 390 grain I use a 1/8" felt wad under the blue powder coated Real bullet. I have shot 4 times with out cleaning, just in early testing but they look promising. I need to sort the bullets better and re-test. Maybe cast...

What Muzzleloading Stuff Did You Do Today?

Powder coated some bullets yesterday, shot some today. Please don't argue the traditional aspect, just showing how they shoot. My 7/8" x 27" Mountain Carbine, 1-30 twist DeHass barrel. No cleaning between shots!

CLOSED 58 caliber Investarms rifle or barrel.

Have you thought of having one [50-54] re-bored to 58 by Hoyt? If they are the same diameter?

Food for thought on smaller calibers for hunting big game.

Ask yourself, would I shoot an animal with 1 piece of buckshot? It will kill them but, it needs to be well placed and there may not be a blood trail. I use to think a 50 was big, but now a 58 is looking a little small. I like 60 and 70 cal round ball shooters for hunting.
