    Strap bag vs belt bag?

Shoulder strap bag for me. I carry my field dressing goods, "toiletries", a hunk of dragging rope and a headlamp in it. No shooting supplies are in it. Those few things hang around my neck.

    Ground hog recipe?

My favorite recipe is a cup of .22 Magnum with a dash of Hornady to taste.

    Repair or replace

The fake sinew is heavily waxed and nothing will stick to it for long. I think you would be farther ahead peeling that fake sinew off and wrapping it with heavy duty silk thread. Then soak it with Titebond 3 until it takes no more.

Kibler stocks OK for a lefty?

I totally understand Jim's point being the CNC/mfg'ing geek that I am. The cost to produce a "handful" of lefty's would never pay for the expenses involved in doing so. Hence the poor business decision. Glad I'm not a lefty or I wouldn't have the Woodsrunner I do :)

    Wool poncho

My sister is a wiz bang seamstress. I gave her a Korean war era wool blanket and she made me a fantastic pull over with a shearling lined, tall collar and hand warmer pocket, both of which are not visible in my pic. I'm an up and coming seamstress :) . My wife bought me a nice Singer heavy duty...

Grand valley shoot this Saturday Michigan Squirrel Shoot

Looks like a good time burning powder up. I need to make my way over one of these days. I have a lot to learn.

    Could caps do this?

8” of variance @ 50 yards from a change in cap brands? Not a chance. 1-2” maybe.

    Fire starting

With a knife edge scrape the inside of white cedar bark. It’s like gasoline. I enjoy a good friction fire. Be it bow or by hand.

    About your hunting rifles

Mine is dull and grey per my recipe. It’s very well cared for. Never been an eye catcher rifle guy. Although I appreciate them very much.

    Advice needed on mid-late 70's TC Hawk 28"b w/1:48t

I own nearly the same rifle. PRB wasn't happening no matter what I tried. Then on a whim one day I decided to put a lubed felt wad between the charge and the PRB. Presto, she's a tack driver now. I know you didn't ask about that. But, I wanted to let you know what I did to make PRBs work in the...

    A revelation of sorts...

I'm nearly 52 and cant see a dang thing that isn't at least 4-5 feet away. I wear 2.5 readers pretty much all day. I've done the peep sight thing, I've done the painted front blade thing and so on. Both helped. But, neither was the real answer. Last Wednesday I went outside to shoot. I grabbed a...

I use the real deal. A fella on here, don't remember who, said it performs well in the cold. So I switched over. Haven't hunted with it yet. I probably use too much per patch. But, it loads nice and shoots nice. Cleaning is cleaning in my book. I enjoy cleaning my rifle nearly as much as...

I agree, Mike. I use neets foot oil for lube. Dirty, stinky, nasty mess after 10 rounds. But, it loads very nice and its accurate. I don't clean between shots. I may experiment more with lubes. I'm very limited hunting northern Michigan. It's never not below 32 degrees in December.

Am I the only one who doesn’t really care for carving on a rifle stock?

None for me. I don't like shiny stocks or barrels either. I like bland, plain, dark stocked rifles. Just my thing. I build a ton of boring self bows too :)

I use it in 3f for the main and primer in all of my rifles. Zero misfires and only one hang fire, which was 100% on me. My flint loosened and only one tiny corner caught the frizzen. It still went boom, but slowly. Cleaning a rifle is cleaning a rifle. It all takes some time to get to my...
