    Straight vs swamp?

I cant speak to straight barrel on a long gun. I only have experience with straight barrels on half stock style rifles. My Woodsrunner has a swamped 39.75" barrel that sits absolutely dead still when shooting off hand. Amazing balance and a very light rifle with the bore at .54.

Is Graf's branded powder the same as Schuetzen?

I fired 20 rounds last night, no cleaning between, using Schuetzen 3F and the load slid down as easily at 20 as it did at 1. Cleaning was no different than any other powder, including the synthetic, fake stuff I burn in some of my cappers. Took me 25 patches and 35 minutes. Same as all my rifles.

    Soooooo fast

Jim’s round face lock is so dang fast. This is my boy shooting my .54 woodsrunner. Ignition speed is just amazing to me. 20 rounds, zero mis fires, zero hang fires and one very dirty barrel and dull flint 😁

Kibler fowler, a couple of photos,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

All of this petty nonsense reminds me of Mr. Gary Davis. Some of you may have known Gary and a majority probably didn't. Gary sold several THOUSAND osage self bow "blanks". They were 90% tillered and 90% shaped. The buyers had very little work to do to make a fantastic, solid self bow they could...

    'Bone Hardening' your ramrod

It was called boning because animal bones were used to burnish NA bows. Burnishing is a good way to harden the very, very outer surface of wood to help resist liquid moisture absorption. I do it on my self bows to create a flawless surface for me to stare at when I'm seeing no deer.

    'Bone Hardening' your ramrod

It wont make any difference on the ram rods strength or durability. But, just like many things regarding primitive hobbies like muzz shooting and self bows, if WE feel better doing it; then by all means do it. Individual confidence is all that matters.

    Re-vamp the site?

My habits mimic yours to a T. I look at all the stuff I don't need, then go to the flint lock section and then the percussion section. No more than 15-20 times daily.

A slow motion flintlock shooting a gong

    T/C stock refinish question

LED lighting skews the look in this picture. It looks dynamite outside. I scrubbed the lock back clean steel and used JAX on all the brass.

    T/C stock refinish question

Sandpaper and various scrapers for me. I sealed it back up with bees was and oil rubbed. Then 20-25 coats of gun wax. If the brass gets proud here and there from wood removal just knock it down with a single cut and buff it back to desired smoothness using sandpaper, steel wool or scotch brite.

    CLOSED TC Hawken barrel

Anyone have a TC Hawken barrel to unload for a fair price? Other than being 15/16 I don’t care what caliber it is. Don’t care about its condition on the outside either as long as the inside is doable. Thanks

What Muzzleloading Stuff Did You Do Today?

I did the same exact thing on my woodsrunner. Started dark and ended up working it back just like yours. I love it. Did all my steel parts just the same. Screws and all.

    What Stain for Tiger Maple?

    That's good to know, Harry.
  18. PEARL DRUMS

    Sweat

To add to that. I just completed a .54 Woodsrunner. It to sucked up a quart of sweat on the stock and metal parts. It looks just dandy.

    Sweat

I have a climate controlled shop. But, Im a sweaty pig when working with hand tools and the sort. I have built hundred and hundreds of self bows that soaked up more sweat that a hippies dew rag at a Dead concert. After sanding and scraping and so on it was never evident. I wouldn't sweat it:)

    What Stain for Tiger Maple?

I used Iron Nitrate from Jim on mine. Looks fantastic and I love dark guns. But, it looks like every other gun posted on here which is why I didn't post mine. If you've seen one you've seen 100.
