    lol powder

Kik is pretty good and I don't think is imported from Slovenia or wherever any longer. On another note, Buffalo Arms and Powder Valley have Schuetzen and Swiss in stock today 2/8/22 for less than $30

    Colonial rifle build for authenticity

I hear ya, and believe ya. But a counterpoint would be: folding a t-shirt into a six inch square of perfectly flush folds, standing at "eyes-right" for 10 straight minutes, and polishing boots for hours wasn't for the enemy's benefit in my basic training. It was to instill discipline...

Chicken grease is an underrated lube 🤣 🤣 Oddly enough as well though it's the only animal fat I've ever noticed washes off of one's hands with just water. I guess it is thinner than mammal fat. Wouldn't call it water soluble, but it is definitely different.

That looks like a fun rifle!

I'll take your word on the nickel-steel but not the low-background steel. It's a real phenomenon, that is thankfully fading in metallurgy. https://www.chemistryworld.com/podcasts/low-background-steel/3009874.article

Something mystic about a keyboard makes the human brain believe that the owner of said brain is God Almighty.

Lands and Grooves for Typical .45

I think the question may be too broad. It might be best to send emails to barrel makers to find out exactly what they bore their rifles.

I think he initially missed your sarcasm in the first reply. It was all downhill from there.

    40 Caliber Flintlock Ohio Rifle

Looks like a fun little rifle. Almost like a baby Leman(in a good way). Not sure of historicity, but who cares if it is an authentic-ish rifle that is made well of quality parts.

How cold is too cold for you to shoot?

Since I live in Alabama, never too cold too shoot. I've sat nigh on motionless for a 12 hour shift in subfreezing temps outside in a DFP/PDP, and many times in sub-freezing temps without firing a shot waiting for a mid-sized cervid to wander in front of me and my gun. Wind is a bigger factor...

    BPI buckshot in rifles

I've got a box of .35s I was considering doing the same in my .60 smooth rifle.

No need to leave. The old timers are just gruff and require a sacrifice of utmost humility. Even in a spirit of levity I have been flamed by some here who believe they are the gatekeepers of long rifle sanctity. By all means, stay/come back. Our sport/hobby/lifestyle needs folks, and some...

@Brianl1620 good job on your Kibler kit. I think some of the old hands here are just a little ornery because for the long time builders they just see this as a Kibler left plain. The ostentation of claiming that your rifle is authentic and like a new rifle in the 1760s has rubbed some the...

I am not raining on your parade at all, so please just take what I'm saying for what it is: your 1863 Springfield is made of pre-Atomic Age steel with high nickel content compared to modern gun steel. That is the reason most guns from the blackpowder era seem to do well in the white or even...

Very nearly right! So much so that I hope you will take this as a way you can be more right: The Pennsylvania gunsmiths switched to guns other than rifles during the revolution because Washington needed muskets and there were literally too many rifles in Continental Army hands. He loved his...

    Buffalo Has Some Schuetzen

Hi all, not in need myself, but just checked Buffalo Arms and they have 2,3, and 4f Schuetzen in stock at the moment! Best of luck! No Swiss to be had though.

    .45 shooters what's the advantage over the 50 ?

I don't discriminate personally. I own from .40-.60 and like them all. Everything in life is a compromise if funds are lacking. If they are in no short supply, then all calibers are equal when properly applied. If I only have money for one gun, I then have to decide what it's meant to do...

    Latest horn

It's on ebay. I accidentally bought it Sunday before realizing it is meant for left side carry. Paul was gracious enough to refund it as I have one of his already and am wanting to buy another or five. His horns are fantastic
