    "Cocktail anyone ?"

I haven't had any of the subs in years, except Blackhorn 209. As such, I will stick with vast amount of the OG BP I have on hand. But, if anyone finds a way to make BH209 not completely dangerous for a trad gun, lemme know. When I shot Knight's Patent INOX WonderGuns that BH209 was amazing...

Thoughts on Patch Boxes - or lack thereof - on the Kentucky Rifle in its Golden Age (and Colonial Age)

I reckon that unless you are holding yourself to a historical standard that few can truly uphold, skipping a patchbox is not a big deal. If you want one, get one. If you don't, weeeelllll... tant noone in this life or the next will be able to judge thee but thy Father who art in Heaven. Of my...

My first shots ever with a flintlock

Congrats! It takes us all differently, yet the same.

    Question on flintlocks

I'm with Hanshi and the inestimable Mr. Keith on triggers. I like to learn exactly when my guns will shoot so I trip the trigger when I want to. Deliberate shots hit the mark. I won't pontificate or expound more than that.

How I lube cut at the muzzle patches

If only crisco smelled as good as Bore Butter/Wonder Lube/Whatever name it has this week. I am not nearly as picky as most folks about lube. But in fairness I also don't shoot competitively or as often as others. I find most common hard lubes work well enough. I also like straight bear oil...

Oh the Chains that Bind Us

This reminds me of rabbit hunting(with a centerfire shotgun). Field coat, gun, and either dump a box of shells in the big pocket of the coat or rip off the top of the box and put it in the pocket. Knife for dressing, and that's about it. Provided you had your biscuit before leaving the house...

    Hodgdon powder in stock.

Good Night! $39 for 777? So the subs are as expensive as real black now? That is unreal.

    Death of muzzleloading

Well that ain't true, and I am proof. Maybe you were being facetious? I was six when I first shot a cap lock. Grew up loving flintlocks despite never owning one. First gun I bought myself at age 18 was a CVA Bobcat. Then a Pieta 1851 Navy. But then about a decade ago I got into Knight...

    Beechwood gunstocks

This is why there are still considerable beech hangers in the east. It dulled saws and axes and they were left standing. Beech is not as hard as some woods, but it is extremely hard and hard to work. We once had a load of beech 1x6x16 fenceboards that were left at the horse farm I worked on...

    Flintlock alarm clocks

Those are pretty cool. Clocks have such a fascinating history, and clearly some 17th and 18th C. folks were inclined to male sure someone woke up at the right time. I often ponder the "time before time" as we live and breathe by it. The accurate measurement of time made the modern world more...

    Round Balls With Dimples

"Verily, it is written: cheweth thy balls that thine enemy be smote unto hellfire!"- 2nd Habakkuk, V.278 Just kidding, but it does sound like the kind of thing a scienti-gnostic Scots frontiersman might say, ya gotta admit. Or maybe a line from a fine Terry Pratchett book.

    Kibler Fowler News - anything???

Hey! I resemble that remark! Here's a little link to some modern master smith's discussing the subject and more pictures for your trouble there @Rock Home Isle. https://americanlongrifles.org/forum/index.php?topic=49297.0 Maybe that will sate your need for others to teach you that which you...

    Muzzleloading gunstore in the south

I need to get up there. If I'm ever gonna own a Bama made rifle, that might have to be the source. But I am GA man, who merely lives in Bama.

    Kibler Fowler News - anything???

And I typed it without a link(which you questioned) because most folks don't assume I'm speculating.
