I could see using cartridges for sheer expedience. I really like all the trappings of horn and such, so I probably won't be going to cartridges, but I can see the appeal.

Sometimes it's the simplest way. I have one horn strap that I simply cut from an old belt. All my daily belts for many years have been a simple full-thickness strap of leather and I had one or two old ones that have become horn straps, and various other leather things through the years.
