    TRIED TOWNSENDS ONION PYE

I made the Townsend ginger beer once. If I do it again, I'm going to go about half the ginger as it had a very very strong ginger taste. All ingredients were purchased at an Amish store except the yeast, I ordered the yeast from a brewing company.

Cheap imported flintlock rifles from the 80s.

All the ones I have are by AMR and marked Made in Spain with various proof marks. There was a double that just sold at Simpsonltd.com for $195

National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum. OKC

I enjoyed the John Browning Gun Museum in Ogden, Utah. No the biggest gun museum I've been too, however the displays complimented his accomplishments.

    Firecrackers

I suppose as long as they are stored in a cool dry place free of humidity they would last a very long time. I have some from my younger days, found them in the closet at my parents house and they still go bang. Maybe even a little older than yours. I saved one pack back for the 4th of July and...

Looking for a vendor to gold plate firearm parts.

Just to offer an alternative to a jeweler. Years ago when I worked at the local Chrysler / Dodge / Jeep dealer, one of the vendors who stopped by done chrome and gold plating.

    "Primitive" shooting at NMLRA

Dammit boys I ain't all that old, at 53 I'm practically a younin' in this sport. Just like the fur trade, I'm afraid the shining times have come and gone. Our greatest hope is for a resurgence like we had around the Bicentennial on our 250th Anniversary coming up in 2026. Hell if nothing else...

    "Primitive" shooting at NMLRA

I would imagine the NMLRA are just trying to get the number of shooters up. Twelve isnt very many. From what I've seen Friendship isn't even a thimble full of what it used to be years ago. Wife and I went there a number of times in the 90's and early 2000's. We stopped by on the way home from...

Cheap imported flintlock rifles from the 80s.

My dad and brother purchased a couple of flintlocks and a couple of caplocks. They used the caplocks, but couldn't get the flintlocks to fire. I found one a couple years ago from the Grandson of the fellow that sold them around here. A Snapper Lawn Mower dealer, it had set in the office corner...

    New Arkansas Reg: “Alternative weapons”

A few years ago, Illinois allowed single shot straight wall cartridges during regular season, however we retained our seperate muzzleloader season. One thing they done correctly in my opinion.

    Sweat

Southern Illinois here, lots of extra humidity do to corn sweat. We didn't have A/C until I was 12 years old. Thought I would freeze after bailing hay, washing up at the well and walking into the A/C. I run a dehumidifier in my shop to keep the tools from rusting. Helps with humidity, but...

    Disappointments in this life

Your shooting with the wrong hand. 😁 I've heard a similar story from an older fellow while I was shooting my Renegade at the local Sportsman club range, Probably mid 90's, he approached me to let me know he had issues with Remington caps and what to look for if they became problematic.

Is it a clean out screw?

There is a lot of back and forth on who actually made barrels for Thompson Center. That being said, I believe what your talking about is part of the process that SOME manufacturers use to make patent breechplugs. These are not clean out screws. A picture would help identify the situation.

    Birchwood Caseys Perma Blue

Perma Blue comes in liquid and paste, I prefer the paste. This is the breechplug on the Renegade that I converted from Caplock to Flintlock. The breechplug was filed to size (the come slightly oversized) and blued with the Perma Blue paste. After a couple years of use it was starting to wear...

Broken Half-Cock on AMR Patriot Copy

Your correct, no need for the fly without the half cock notch. I agree with SDSmlf, try Deer Creek, they have helped me with parts.

What are your favorite Thompson Center (T/C) Percussion guns?

My first T/C was a .54 cal Renegade purchased new from the Bass Pro Shop in Springfield, MO, I still have the box with paperwork and the American flag key chain. Purchased with credits from Chrysler to the Bass Pro Shop for being a new vehicle preparation manager. Most proud to own T/C is a...

    Sandcasting Flintlock Parts

Awesome work Jdbeck! I've been talking to a tech savvy friend with a 3D printer about using a wax filament to produce parts for investment casting. I have a small foundry I purchased from a local school when they closed down the metal shop. It seems the project is on perpetual hold do to both...

    Getting there !

I first want to say that I'm not an expert. Just kind of muddled through it with some advice from others and some reading. My first flintlock did not function well. A quality rifle with properly sized and placed flash hole, along with loading techniques such as powder in the pan just below the...
