    Grandpa stories

Dad's dad, I knew him as Grandpa. I remember playing cards and having tea, while he had coffee. He passed when I was 5 about to turn 6. I ended up with both paternal and maternal Grandpa's shotguns.

    Spanish pistol rebuild

I picked up two of those Spanish pistols in caplock at a local auction. Mine are both Jukar brand. Those stocks are pretty rough from the factory and the drum to lock fit is poor on mine Sounds like you had about the same issues. Looks like yours turned out well, good job!

    Pedersoli Kentucky pistol sear spring

Contact Pedersoli or Dixie Gun Works carries some Pedersoli parts. I would try a new spring before over thinking it. The spring may have been the cause of the heavy trigger pull. If it's still terrible with the new spring, then look for the source of the problem.

    Mr Bobby Hoyt

Sounds like the world we live in, a few bad apples mess it up for everyone else. I'm certain he will make it right once he is aware of the problem, likely just an oversight.

    Colorado State Muzzle Loading Association.

Last show we attended was about 25% of what it was in the early 90's. It is a sad trend indeed. I too would like to see the younger folks get involved or at least set their phones down long enough to wipe their backsides.

    Hole Through the Barrel

The exact reason I will not buy a barrel with extra "sight holes" in it, be it for primitive sights or a scope. Too often the holes are drilled all the way through to the bore.

Can you get 3 aimed shots a minute?

I'm slow and methodical about loading. That fact really didn't set in until I was confronted by dogs. After shooting, checking on my livestock, I decided to reload the muzzleloader. I lubed the strip of patching in a tin of my favorite lube. Pulled the flask and added powder from a measure. I...

Any other crazy kids out there?

Yup, seen a similar one as a rifle. Got the wind knocked out of me horsing around with my brother. 15 Years before Quigley Down Under, my brother and I envisioned a version of Cowboys and Indians that would have better fit the Australian frontier, than the American West. You see, we had...

Roku TV show; Into the Wild Frontier

I watch Into the Wild Frontier on Tubi from time to time. Seen all 3 seasons. You've picked quite a controversial subject for your 1st post. For the longest time authors like Carl P Russel assumed the "short rifles" were the 1803 Harpers Ferry (one of my favorite rifles). The facts presented...

Prairieland Frontiersman 35th Annual Historic Arms Show in Sullivan, IL Held March 8th & 9th, 2024

I went to the show today, it wasn't too big or overly crowded. I came home with a lot of plunder. A new flintlock lock, an older caplock pistol kit, small Nicholson file, two Mark Baker books, two mountain man sketch books, and a book by the forum's very own Eric Kettenburg. Plus, I still had...

    Help Identifying item/part

I believe conclusion it's a luber of some sort is correct, but it's not like the T/C lubers I've seen in the wild. So, I went to dig through my old T/C catalogs 5, 8, 11, 18 and 25. Catalog 18 has the more common T/C luber, but nothing before 18 in my collection. I would be interested to learn...

So, A Mountain Man Walks Into A Gunshop....

Well I would never threaten to trade my wife for a rifle, welder or cutting torch while she was standing there. One must position themselves strategically in the room before such offers are made. For example; we were all standing around in my friends living room partaking of a festive beverage...
