    SMR Strikes Again!

This whistle pig was no match for my .40 Kibler Southern Mountain Rifle. This one had been teasing me for quite some time but I finally was able to put the sneak on him.

    Cap maker question

So I have done a lot of reading on these cap makers from the .22 Reloader company and I think I want to pick one of these gizmos up. I can't decide between the 10 and the 11 though and I cant afford both. I shoot a lot with my uberti revolvers with stock nipples and remington 10 (when I can find...

    Cleaning a "Patent Breech"

A q tip will screw into 10-32 threads quite well and will get down in the breech.

    Lead

Scrapyard gave me 80 pounds of this old school lead coated wire, said if I bring back the copper when I'm done, I can keep the lead. Not too bad considering the work involved. Gotta be the softest lead I have seen and the lead jacket is pretty darn thick.

Wet BP Can it be used?

True, but at that point you're milling and if you are trying to resurrect commercial powder without the know how or equipment to turn millings into useable powder... I can just feel the admins looking at me 😬

Wet BP Can it be used?

Just be aware that if it gets really wet and stays that way for awhile, potassium nitrate will readily dissolve in water and the resulting separation may cause your powder to be less efficient and/or burn incompletely causing more fouling. If it dries and looks like it has a white powdery...

Left eye dominant, right hand dominant?

I guess it all comes down to what you are comfortable with, I'm left eye/right hand and I shoot long guns righty, handguns rights but use my left eye (I know, its weird) and bows and slingshots lefty. If I mix any of those up I feel like I'm on a different planet! I usually wear my glasses...

    Barrel finishing question

I didn't like how the file was doing so I just used 80 grit backed by a file and used Birchwood Casey Brass Black for a brushed gunmetal sort of color/finish.

    Ease of use by caliber

I use regular mink oil as a patch lube and shoot upwards of 50 rounds with my .36 rifle and could keep going if I wanted. I also have a couple of .58 Enfield's that I could do the same with using a beeswax and crisco lube.

    Virginia boy here

Gotcha! I've been through there at one point, visiting some family friends, the Meade's.

    Virginia boy here

Howdy from a fellow Virginian! I know that there are a couple threads on here about converting to flintlock as I wanted to do it to one of my rifles. I ended up getting a dedicated flintlock rifle because of the breech design on my pedersoli being a known PITA with a flintlock firing mechanism...
