Trade Gun Ramrod - Spiral or Not?

I could not make up my mind and wanted to find out if striping was historically correct. What I’d really like is an ebony ramrod but finding one of them is as easy as finding an honest politician.

    Another Skychief load convert

Just to clarify; did you load the PRB (patched round ball) with only the patch? Or did you load the PRB with all the wadding that goes into the Skychief load?

Trade Gun Ramrod - Spiral or Not?

Well if I was going to stripe it, I’d make darn sure it was in a clockwise direction. Everyone knows that in the Northern Hemisphere the stripes are put on in a clockwise direction. In the Southern Hemisphere, the stripes run counter-clockwise. 😁😁😁

Trade Gun Ramrod - Spiral or Not?

Lot's of great advice here. I don't go along with the herd just to go along. However, I do appreciate history and like to be historically correct as much as possible. And sometimes, that isn't always possible. So, I'll stick with a simple, dark stained ramrod.

Trade Gun Ramrod - Spiral or Not?

I picked up a used Pedersoli Indian Trade Musket. If it was ever shot, it wasn't very much. The front sight was filed down. Other than that, I'm really liking this gun and can't wait to shoot it. As with all Pedersoli's the factory ramrod is worthless. So I have an unfinished hickory rod...

    HAWK??

I shot out the barrel of a .22-250 and had the rifle re-barreled. I gave to old barrel to my friend who, in turn, gave it to Beaver Bill to turn into a tomahawk. The last photo is one of his stock tomahawks with my custom hawk.

Peep Sight on Pedersoli Frontier Rifle

It’s an excellent idea but seems a little out of the time frame for the flintlock. I wonder when the ladder sight made its first appearance.

Does anyone know if this tang mounted peep sight will fit on the Pedersoli Frontier rifle? https://www.trackofthewolf.com/Categories/PartDetail.aspx/883/1/RS-DP-GRS

I’d like one but don’t like the idea of loading it without an attached loading lever.

I don't want to get too far of the topic of the OP's original post but here's a link to an article about a man who had to rely on a cap & ball revolver for personal protection. How a Black-Powder Revolver Saved My Life Anyway, back to the Patterson revolver. It must have been a lot more...

When I was in college, with little to no money, the discovery of the cap & ball revolver allowed me a more economical means of shooting. If I remember correctly the Navy Arms 1858 Remington cost me less than $50. I also purchased a round ball mold and cast the balls over the kitchen stove in...

    Christmas 2020 Wishes

I want a TVM .45 caliber Mountain rifle. I've done my very %@$#%% best to be good and watch my @#$^%^& language all year. So the fat guy in the red suit should give me a break. I didn't complain when I didn't get a new pickup truck or an all expense paid elk hunting trip. Besides, he can get...
