    Lifespan of a Rifle?

I have heard of soldiers in Afghanistan catching Taliban guys that were using original Brown Bess muskets.

    Building a Schuetzen Rifle

This is going to be a fun one. It will be a schuetzen rifle. If you don't know, that is the 19th century offhand target competition rifle. These were always percussion rifles. But I like flintlock better so this will be a flintlock rifle. It will get a palm rest and I will be making an...

duelist1954 (Mlke Belivue) has been in YouTube Jail

When I was on You Tube I got about 10 times as many views as I do on Rumble. I make more money on Rumble than I did on You Tube. It is about $5 to $6 per month. You Tube never paid that much. It takes a huge audience to make any money doing internet videos. Becoming You Tube famous is about as...

duelist1954 (Mlke Belivue) has been in YouTube Jail

I am very proud to say that I got kicked off You Tube about 3 years ago for building flintlocks. I got everything on Rumble now and have not had any problems there. You Tube hates anything to do with guns. But if you make videos about what color lipstick will look best with your beard, or the...

    How heavy is too heavy?

I just finished a 4 bore. Weight is about 17 to 18 pounds. Seems a bit light, but not by much. It is for offhand shooting only. Shooting it from a bench rest would be a very bad idea.

    Gear List - Newbie - 2024

I get the feeling you live in the city. You are putting way to much thought into this. Get rid of that list. Call a muzzleloading club and ask if there is someone there willing to show how all this stuff works and take you out hunting. There most likely will be. Flintlocks don't need caps and...

Do You Actually Use Your Expensive Custom Guns or Keep Them as Safe Queens?

Funny thing is the guys that buy a $90,000 pickup truck and drive it until it is junk in a few years. Then they say $10,000 for a gun is ridiculous.

Do You Actually Use Your Expensive Custom Guns or Keep Them as Safe Queens?

I have a few of the $10,000+ guns. I am not going to spend that much money on a gun unless I intend to get a lot of use out of it. Spending money on a gun then putting it in a safe and never shooting it makes no sense. Easier to put a pile of cash in a safe and look at it every now and then instead.

    You call that a rifle.

That one is just a little guy. Tomorrow I am taking the 4 bore out to the shooting range. That one is .985 bore and standard load is 450 grains of powder. Heavy loads are 500+. It is actually pretty fun to shoot. Recoil knocks you back 5 or 6 feet but I have never gotten a bruise from it.

    Kibler Brown Bess?

I think it is easier to learn how to build guns yourself than it is to talk someone else into manufacturing the exact one that you want. Mr Kibler is likely to produce whatever kits he is most interested in.

    Woodsrunner Question?

I like rifles with carving and engraving. Lots of engraving! Pretty much all rifles of that period had at least some carving on them.

For the Want of a Wire Coat Hanger

Music wire beats the clothes hangars. And it comes in different sizes.
