    Breech was made with the barrel. Barrel is 31 inches long. 1 3/4 inch at breech tapers to 1 3/8 inch at muzzle.

    Do a search on 1095 steel bar stock. There are hundreds of suppliers. Good chance you can even find a local one.

    60 grains is not a heavy load. In the 4 bore I am going up to 500 grain powder charges with a 1700 grain ball. It makes life fun!

    You won't find a kit that will match it. Build from a blank instead. That is easier than building from a kit.

    The only hard part about carving is not being too afraid to do it the first time. Carving really is a lot easier than everyone seems to think it is.

    Anneal and hammer over a tapered mandrel.

    The high school had in indoor shooting range in the basement. Kids were allowed to bring rifles on the school bus.

    If yo are experienced with building guns and have tools then building one from a blank might be the way to go. You can build whatever you want and not be limited to what is available as a kit.

    Screw angle

    Hammer down the high side of the screw. That will form the bottom of the screw head to fit the countersink. Quite possible that it will close up the slot so you have to stop, take out the screw and recut the slot if that starts to happen. Miss that part and the screw will never come out again...
