    Stitch holes in tanned hide

I did a fair amount of hide tanning as a teenager...if i remember correctly, i stitched a hole once with dental floss very thorougjly before i tanned it. I know it worked out well...my thoughts were, on these hides, i dont care how good you are, the skin will never be as soft and pliable as it...

Anyone think this would look good on the front of a pietta navy?

Actually i don't know the term, what is it?

Anyone think this would look good on the front of a pietta navy?

I suppose if it looks gaudy, i can always order a plain sight...once I've cut in a standard dovetail, its just a matter of taking out one and putting in the other... Am looking forward to fixing my windage after replacing the hammer i had wore out 🤣...really starting to miss getting out and...

    Sight adjustment - .32 Crockett

Just start filing a little at a time off the top of that rear sight, and shooting as you go. Use a course or medium file, and go slow. You can't put metal back after its taken off! At the point just when the filing has brought the holes down to slightly above the bull, switch to a fine file and...

Anyone think this would look good on the front of a pietta navy?

Maybe without the knurling or just a similar piece at least, solid brass blade and base. My thought is that the side profile of that brass dovetail when finished will give the pistol a sharp image.

Anyone think this would look good on the front of a pietta navy?

Am considering dovetailing this into the muzzle to correct my windage. , Too much flash? Just the right amount? Maybe i should go with something plain and indistinct? I am toying with whether it will add flare to the gun without distracting your eye from it...

    Buckets of roundballs …

Very interesting. I have not had much exposure to fowlers and smoothbores.

    Buckets of roundballs …

Some of your balls are a couple of tenths smaller than than your specified caliber on the lid...what are you using for patching material for those? One of your lids has balls matching the caliber, no patches for that one?

    Brewing, anyone?

I am certainly not with the fad...but i do know the last time i bit into a red oak acorn, and an early persimmon, they were about as enjoyable as i find ipas to be....bitter, like the last time i got my mouth washed with soap...🤣 its a rare person to enjoy the taste of one without acquiring it...

    Flint doe

You guys rock this season. I set forms for an 8 foot retaining wall today...should have been deer hunting... Beech nuts...there was a giant 5 foot wide beech tree i used to hike to on a forested knoll above a stream that i picked up several several large unbroken spearpoints and knife blades...

How is your favorite range rod handle shaped?

Mine has no handles, because i like what I practice with to be the same as what I hunt with, and like to carry to the range exactly what I hunt on foot with... I'll tell you man though, I would love to have one of those for the house when cleaning! Very nice!

Regular misfires with Pietta .36 revolver

I think this is good advice. It can absolutely happen. I once had an older cva vest derringer that i KNOW beyond any doubt that i had just loaded, because it was the first time i had ever loaded a smoothbore, and the different feel struck me. It went pop..after capping and popping several...

How To Stop a Moving Buck Deer

I mean, a .54 roundball stops them pretty dead...actually, seriously though...i have tried to stop bucks when they're trailing a doe so close i could hear his tending grunts as he made them...he ignored every grunt and bleat i made. I have heard to use a snort wheeze as a last resort, and i...

Regular misfires with Pietta .36 revolver

Honestly, i have never compared sizes of #10s between brands, i use cci almost exclusively because they are more available, and don't often use others nearly as often, which may be why i have never noticed that. However, I'd like to caution my recommendation on custom filing your nipple...

.45 caliber RB enough for deer?

Definitely doesn't hurt, and won't disappoint, thats for sure. Bigger hole, bigger blood trail, and a lot of times, marginal hit will lay him down long enough for you to reload. I've seen if happen often enough to know its a factor (or bonus) to consider. A .45 is definitely a more delicate...

    A shared effort.

That picture is just awesome. The look on your face sitting behind that pile of birds is like you didn't expect anything less. You really got serious on those birds man.

    A shared effort.

Man, when you said you were going out for crows this weekend, you sure weren't lyin...a whole pile of them! You really did something there. Wow.

    Brass Shine

I would look into how metals were polished in those days...not specifically on firearms, just in general. My guess is it would be easier to find sources on those...and if you find a technique on polishing brass or silver, then by sheer stroke of logic, you have what you are looking for on...

Regular misfires with Pietta .36 revolver

...At one time, I was firing a pietta navy so often for 3-4 hour sessions that I wore out its parts...I had the same problems you are talking about at first; but it stopped. Here is what you need to know: Use #10 caps. That is the proper size for the nipples on a pietta navy. You should also...
