    Sight help on Kentucky rifle

Seems as if you were already on the right path as i was typing this, from the looks of your last post that came in. Those groups and patches look great. Definite improvement. Not nearly as much fraying.

    Sight help on Kentucky rifle

The answer to your questions is basically yes. Key word there is basically. Your mileage will vary slightly, but those percentage guidelines run true. What i would do though, is forget about the numbers, and start backing off charges and shooting...look for what gives you the best group, and...

    The roe buck.

Glad to see you're out there bud! Work has had me this month, except for one bowhunting excursion that i probably didnt have time for... but i always say, never complain about work when you got it! The rabbits out this way are having an easy month. I am living through you guys and thinking of you.

    Sight help on Kentucky rifle

Take a couple strokes off the top of that that rear sight with a course or medium file and fire another group...repeat until its hitting the bull. Just go slow and don't take off too much. You can't put metal back after its gone! If you can catch it right while its still a hair high, switch to a...

    Relocating back to Evansville, IN

Well, you're about 10 years too late, im in south dakota these days...I hear eastland mall is still there, not sure if washington square mall ever went under or not...i think the blue angles still hit the riverfront...no clue about the boat races either...we were a little up north up where...

    Who knows eachother here?

Yep, its the inlines and compound bows...i have only met one traditional archery shooter since moving to this state and the only guys shooting our types of guns, I met at our area's black powder club. But there's also a lot of us working guys that dont have the luxury to attend those clubs...

    Anyone from ND?

I came really close to going to that one last year after i moved here... am still unsure about next year, but we have a nice little one down here in the black hills too. They probably would have talked about it if you met them.

So Much for Early ML Season

When i was a teenager, we used to wait for that kind of weather to hit those kind of places...😉. These days, I'm above well above that, but there was a time... I have brewed a few kit batches myself. Nothing sophisticated

    Anyone from ND?

We do have a pretty good club down here near rapid city, and our range is on general custer's artillery range on ft meade grounds. Job no longer allows me to attend their meetings and shoots, However, I'm always there in spirit. And the arrows turned out great. Wish i had more time to shoot...

No sir, but a big hello from south dakota!

    Who knows eachother here?

No sir, that was just me realizing in a roundabout way that it wouldn't be a bad idea for us to start frequenting the regional forums more often and knowing the people around us who are the same as we are.

    Who knows eachother here?

Speaking of sporting goods stores, I'll tell you, anyone around here who avoids cabelas or scheels, or even shops their grudgingly would be my best friend. The high tech overpriced, useless crap they sell in there these days... not all of it, but 75% of it...they do have a decent supply of...

    Who knows eachother here?

Not a bad idea for some of us to be friends outside of here, especially with the scarcity of traditional muzzleloading enthusiasts these days. These days, I'm the only person i know who does this kind of stuff or is even interested in the history.

    Pennsylvania Early Muzzleloader Doe Harvest

At first, from the picture, it looked like you must have shot her close and down below you from a tree stand because that entry point was as high as it was. I remember those days in Indiana, lol. Climbing up in a tree stand and realizing the deer are already there...not many trees in these...

    Unreliable ignition Traditions Hawken Percussion

With my main shooter, i have shot upwards of 30-40 balls at a time. I do tap like you said, but only when i think about it. It seems to me like accuracy and ease of loading is dependent on running a wet patch and a dry patch every three to 5 shots. I invert my barrel down towards the ground with...

    Unreliable ignition Traditions Hawken Percussion

Thats probably what is necessary if the crud buildup is too thick to clean it with pipe cleaners. If its a rifle that you can remove the drum on, i honestly wouldn't fiddle around with pipe cleaners too much. The cleaning gets much simpler if you can take it apart.

    Unreliable ignition Traditions Hawken Percussion

Add this into your cleaning regimen, and it will solve your problem: Go and buy or order some of those cva/traditions pipe cleaners. Remove your nipple, Cut off an inch and a half piece, Wet one with whatever solvent you use, hot water is excellent if that's what you use! Bend the piece of pipe...

why am i so addicted to revolvers ?

I normally just knock em down one-at-a-time. The way I see it, if he's got one following him, then I'd rather leave that one as breeding stock...
