Rifle cleanup on aisle 1 !

Thank you, but it was just sandpaper and Tru-Oil, and deepening some inletting - about as basic a method as you can get if you can even call it a method. The only thing special was the amount of time spent sanding down to 1000 grit. And this repair on the catch for the patchbox that wasn't...

A LOT of fine grit sandpaper and Tru-Oil Now it sits for a week to fully cure, then wax and onto the Baldor where it gets buffed until it glows.

Rifle cleanup on aisle 1 !

Picked up this Kentucky style percussion from BigSkyRambler a few weeks ago (Fine gentleman, excellent person to do business with !) He said he thought it would clean up nice, he understated that, it cleaned up beautifully with some really nice birds eye grain!! A few before and afters...

    Making a bullet board

Keep your eyes open for one of those presses that uses your hand drill, They pop up on craigslist, FB marketplace and at flea markets all the time, generally for $5 or so - because they suck and no one wants them. However for something as simple as this it will get the job done.

Making an antler fork single shooting stick

Added some fringe and a patch knife at the center joint (The leather top and bottom looks off but it's the same color, off the same piece - lighting is different up and down)

    Making a bullet board

Here's what I did. A shooting board that clamps onto the bench at the range. Holds the gun, range rod and starter. Has a little indentation to hold primers and 30 premeasured powder loads. Two different style block sets that holds 30 prelubed .50 cal Maxi-Balls. They fit on the left side of the...

Making an antler fork single shooting stick

These are what I used for the transition from the antler to wood, the brass part being screwed and epoxied into the antler, the wood screw part going into the wood. It's also the wood to wood attachment. It's 3 pieces including the antler so that it can fit into a backpack. If I'm dragging a...

Making an antler fork single shooting stick

Just realized I never updated this thread like I promised I would The functional part has been finished, I need to learn more about leather craft (this was my first try with it) before adding some more embellishments I used a thick bit of aluminum on the foot. Aluminum is sticky on rock which...

Lockable Case for a long rifle ??

I've no desire to have to pay a lawyer 15K to find out and possibly get my confiscated gun back The laws in this state are so convoluted a lot of cops don't even know them - so their modus operandi is to confiscate and let a judge decide.

Where can you find brass slotted flathead woodscrews ?

Some of the screws are Phillip's head so obviously not an antique, possibly 1960s build. Some of the screws holding the inlays were rusted worse underneath the inlays. Lots of black and green corrosion and discoloration on the brass around the rusted screws. Took a lot of polishing to get it...

Where can you find brass slotted flathead woodscrews ?

That's what I'm going to do. Any tips to keep the steel screws from rusting underneath and discoloring the brass inlays ?

Where can you find brass slotted flathead woodscrews ?

That would make my life much easier, just wire wheel the corrosion off the existing screws and reuse them Guess what path I'm taking Thank you all

Where can you find brass slotted flathead woodscrews ?

No woodworking stores anywhere near me that I know of (very depressing) Lowe's only has brass in Phillips head, same with Home Depot I'm trying to find matching screws so as to avoid that, but it seems very likely that will be the road taken. Trying to avoid that as well. If it comes all the...
