Newbie question: Trigger supposed to be that loose?

Yes, that is what I did. Works and feels much better now. It's fun shooting a .69 pistol! As for hitting the target.....

Progressively rifled barrel for Enfield 1853/58

Looks like Parker Hale it is. Original Enfields are hard to find around here... Nobody has mentioned the 1861? How do you feel about them? I guess the short barrel would not be able to compete with the longer guns? https://egun.de/market/item.php?id=19451939

Progressively rifled barrel for Enfield 1853/58

The question is: what is the way ahead? How to get a good shooting Enfield for example? Are the Parker Hale ones any good? Or is it best to get a replica like a Pedersoli and change the barrel for a Whitacre one?

Progressively rifled barrel for Enfield 1853/58

They would be close to the original ones with a barrel like that, wouldn’t they? Like what https://papercartridges.com/ offers?

A rifling that is deeper close to the breech and more shallow at the muzzle.

Progressively rifled barrel for Enfield 1853/58

Is there anybody out there making progressively rifled barrels for replicas of the Enfield 1853 and 1858 models? It would be great to be able to update for example a Pedersoli Enfield and have the proper rifled barrel and be able to use paper cartridges. Anybody done such an upgrade?

    Ballistol

I don‘t think so. Wouldn‘t know where you‘d need an oil for welding (but I only know a little bit about TIG an MIG).

    Ballistol

According to the german Wikipedia page about Ballistol there is an odorless variant call H1: https://ballistol.de/en/products/all-things-mechanical/technology/h1-special-oil-65-ml-nsf-registrated-no-143097-euro-label-flasche-65-ml.html

For target shooting: Pedersoli‘s Mortimer or Tatham&Egg?

Although I was looking for comments on the Mortimer pistol the rifle is very interesting as well! Do you have the Deluxe model with the decorations?
