She Ain't Pretty, But She Shoots

Finally took my new Lyman Trade Rifle .54 cal out for trial run. Loaded 60 grains of FFG, a .520 round ball, and a .015 patch. This is the three shot group at about 30 yards. On the negative side, the CCI #11 caps were a little too small for the nipple. Had several misfires because the cap...

Got any dumb statements by idiots?? (Muzzleloading shooting related)

"Don't you have to wear buckskin, etc to hunt with a muzzleloader?" I prefer ignorant or uneducated to " dumb ".

    Tin Can Test

Here's a "tin can test" I did at 10 yards with my Harper's Ferry smoothbore pistol. It was loaded with 40 grains of 777, an equal amount of #5 shot, and two felt wads.

    My Pietta 1858 Went Walker

I filed down the notch a little and it's fitting more evenly. I also might try some JB Weld for better fitment.

    My Pietta 1858 Went Walker

Went to shoot my Pietta 1858 loaded with 25 grs of 777 and the loading lever kept coming down. I looked at the notch where it catches and it's not a great fit. Also the screw that holds it in the receiver was a little loose. Do you think that was the issue? Thanks

    Deciding What To Shoot

What determines which gun you're going to shoot on a given day? Maybe you bring several. I only bring one at a time, since I'm lazy about cleaning. Just for kicks, I'm gonna start lowest to highest in caliber, starting with my NAA .22 Super Companion and ending with my .76 cal smoothy...

I was fortunate enough to snag four tins of CCI #11s at Fleet Farm yesterday. They were $12.99 each.

    PRB Vs Cartridges

Has anyone tried paper cartridges in their civilian type percussion rifles? How do they perform compared to the patched round ball? Thanks

    A Flinter Pistol?

I'm thinking about the Pedersoli Kentucky pistol in .54 cal. Anyone have one? The maple stocked version is awfully pretty, but expensive.

    Truck Gun?

"Whatever " doesn't include personal defense, I have no interest in that.

    Truck Gun?

No, I'm not trying to skirt any laws. Maybe you could keep it uncapped or cylinder removed. That was part of my thinking.

    Truck Gun?

What do you think about one of those cheap brass framed "Navy" .44s being kept in the truck? Maybe for impromptu shooting sessions or whatever. How long would the powder stay good over time, under various weather conditions? Thanks
