If you have partner or a spouse that can help do this. Replace the Flint with wood. Place a coin on top of the rifle and pull the trigger. Then go through the motions of loading. Do this 3 or 4 times a night until you hold still. Then continue without a coin.

The advice about scrubbing is some good advice. I'd also pick up some frog Lube extreme lube. Soak it on a patch and run it down the barrel let it sit overnight. It will draw out the old fouling. I use it exclusively in my competition rifles
