    Traditions Blunderbuss kit

I use 3f 777 in all my loads for the .54, but 2f goex has given good results. I also use lubed felt .54 wads. A good small game load would be 80 gr of shot, 60 gr of 777, and a wad over power and shot. Out to 20-25 yards this has given good patterns for me. For round ball use a .530 ball, with a...

I'm a big fan of rotometals bismuth, I was really hoping for lead, although their #3 bismuth is pretty dandy,

    Canoe Gun?

Those are fantastic looking patterns. I wonder if it shoots as well with the shorter barrel because there is less speed making the shot deform less.

    Bird shot in small quantities

Does anyone know where I can order birdshot by the pound or two? Even 5 lbs. The smallest quantities I can find are 10 lbs, and I'd like to do tests with different shot sizes to see how they perform.

    Canoe Gun?

I've had luck hunting small game with my traditions blunderbuss, .54 caliber smoothbore. I have loads for that silly thing that make me pretty effective at 20 yards. 60 grains 3f 777 and ~85 grains of shot. With patched round ball I have tight groups at 30 yards

    777 3f Dram Equivalents

I am under the impression that at least with 777 that is not the case. I have a brass shell loading manual that shows 777 being considerably hotter than BP and necessitating less powder for equal velocities with the same shot load.

    777 3f Dram Equivalents

Thank you all for the responses. So theoretically when converting 2f BP loads to 3f 777 loads, it needs to be dropped roughly 15%. So a 60 grain 777 charge is equivalent to about 70 grains of black? BTW the ratio I like right now is 1.4 grains of shot for every grain of 777, so 85 grains of shot...

    777 3f Dram Equivalents

I like 777 in my sidelock, but I think you need to use caps that are a little hotter to reliably ignite it, and 3f is easier than 2f to do so.

    777 3f Dram Equivalents

I am looking to figure out dram equivalents of 777 3f to 2f black powder. I'm looking at a 12 gauge velocity chart that is denoted in drams, and would like to match these loads with 3f 777. What would be the best way to go about this? I would like 60, 70, 80, and 90 gr equivalents if possible. I...

So you're using an equal volume of bismuth shot and powder that I assume is 2f?
