    Pedersoli Bess Mainspring Broken

I went ahead and ordered the spring from TOW and cancelled the order with VTI. Hopefully the TOW spring won't be too lazy but I'll find out. I was thinking that if I didn't get the cancelation in or time or VTI wasn't as gracious as they were about cancelling the order I'd be able to compare...

    Pedersoli Bess Mainspring Broken

Thanks, folks. I went ahead and put in the order with vtigunparts since I couldn't find the spring in TOW. Then after some of you mentioned that TOW sells I dug a little deeper and found it. Are all the Pedersoli Brown Bess main springs the same? I may have jumped the gun a bit as TOW wants...

    Pedersoli Bess Mainspring Broken

Took my new (to me) Pedersolli Bess Carbine for my first shooting session with it today. Had some ignition problems. A new flint helped but when I took the lock off for cleaning the mainspring dropped out. Upon examination I discovered that the spring was snapped off about an inch forward of...

    Hello from the Hudson Valley

Welcome from Fairbanks, Alaska. Don't get down to The States much but have been to your neck of the woods a couple of times when we did. Old Rhinebeck is a Mecca for us antique airplane nutters.

    Easter morning turkey hunting.

Nice! Looks like you're in a great location. I need to do that with my Bess Carbine. My son bought me some nice turkey targets a while back that I haven't used yet. No turkey's around here but I plan to go after grouse with it later this year. I'm assuming your carbine is a Pedersoli. We...

Pro Libertate’s New Pedersoli Brown Bess Carbine

I bought one a couple of years ago. It was second hand from a gun store but in mostly new condition and it did not have swing swivels.

Then, if stuck there, making a living would be another issue. I'd venture a guess that the master craftsmen on this list would fare better than us airplane pilots with rudimentary handcrafting skills. I'd be busy scheming on how my 21st century knowledge could earn me an early retirement. I...

    Brown bess for trap?

Anyone tried it with a Brown Bess Carbine? I want to try trap shooting with mine. Not too worried about scoring worse than I do with a modern shotgun.

    Smoothbore grouse

Fun! I need to get out after grouse with my Bess Carbine sometime soon. Springer Spaniels are great. We had a couple of them when I was a kid. Have you talked to Curtiss Stables? The last I heard he was breeding Springers. Dogs sure are good for peer pressure to get out and about. Nothing...

    Primitive Rendezvous interior Alaska

Sounds great! At least it wasn't as smoky as the last one I went to. I agree, I think it is something which would have wider appeal if more folks knew about it. I didn't make it this year, being in a bit of a panic mode about getting a painting project done while the warm weather holds.

Did anyone here make it to the rendezvous?

Nice shooting! Going after moose and caribou with it this fall?

Did you try any of the contacts on the McKinley Mountainmen page? McKinley Mountainmen Muzzle Loading Rifle Club It doesn't look like that site has been updated for a while but maybe one of those contacts is still good. The website for the Alaska State Muzzleloader Association appears to be...

Wow. Good to hear you're okay. There's going to be some rebuilding to do in a few places. Water and ice are powerful!

Looks like it's going to be a busy summer for me but would love to drop by there if I get a breather. Bummer about the salmon lately. Hope you escaped the flooding this spring.

    Halfstock NW Trade Gun?

Very cool! Would love to check it out some time. Thanks for buying it. It came back up on Alaska's List and was tormenting me again.

You're going to be a colonist....

I'd take my Pedersoli Brown Bess Carbine. That's my only smoothbore and only flintlock longarm. The smoothbore for shooting shot at small game and big chunks of lead at lions and tigers and the flintlock since you didn't mention providing a lifetime supply of caps (which is hard enough to find...

    Shipping Caps to Alaska

I dropped by Granite View Sports in Delta Junction yesterday and they had #10 and #11 caps on the shelves.
