    Pipes and tobacco.

Just got into pipe smoking, and have been fairly curious as to what pipes, tobacco, and carrying methods would have been used historically, say from the late 1700s to the early 1800s ?

.36 caliber rifle ballistics and uses

I've used mine to shoot goats, foxes, crows, and rabbits. I started off using maxi balls but soon went to PRB. I found the maxi balls on goats had plenty of penetration but not enough expansion. They tended to run up to 50m after a good chest shot. My rifle likes to be run hard,I believe my PRB...

    Today's challenge.

Your success with the little 45 smoothy is definitely convincing me to get the barrel reamed on my 50 cal flintlock rifle

Love ya work. That covid is a bugger isn't it ? It laid me up for 2 weeks exactly one year ago,and took me months to fully recover

    Hares.

He's just a bit cheeky ! Stole my seat ! Will do Brit. Hopefully this spring i get back out with her and the muzzleloader a bit more, haven't been using them so much as I've needed to be a bit more results oriented these days ( re,I'm poor,I need to kill stuff a bit more surely than I do with the...

    Hares.

Likewise Britsmoothy! Here's the new dog, he's a Patterdale x JR, 1 year old, called Mr Scruffleupugus, or Scruffy for short. I haven't met him yet,Jessica is literally doing a 9 hour round trip today to pick him and and hasn't arrived home yet.

    Hares.

I'm doing ok mate, been a few upsets recently but I won't go into that. She's doing well, she's happy as she's convinced me to get another dog lol. I believe that particular hare I actually just fried up in butter, not exactly the best method but it was still good. Much better in stews though. I...

Anyone else use the old Thompson Center Maxi Ball system bullets for hunting?

I've used them in my .36,they worked well on rabbits and foxes but not so great on the goat I shot, double lunged her at 40m and she ran about 50m with barely any blood. I was going to investigate getting a hollow point mould made but in the end I've got 50 calibres that do a better job with...

    4.35 miles!

I'd also love to see the $8 permit and requirement to shoot 150 water buff in writing. I've been trying to get onto a buff hunt for over 20 years and as yet can't find any way to do so for under 5k,excepting certain flogged out public land areas around Darwin.

    4.35 miles!

We were talking requiring permits for native species....

    4.35 miles!

The second and continuing battles of the emu war don't go so well for the emus..... The most common method I've seen is to use shotguns from vehicles, although I do know people who expressly head shoot them out to a 150m or so....
