    I got a screw loose!

I just spoke with Charlie at EMF. He is a senior gunsmith. Very nice fellow by the way. Told him I am a noobie and would like to try and fix it myself. After I explained everything, he said it was likely the cam on the hammer and that he would send me one along with a screw. I asked about...

    I got a screw loose!

Just got an email and they are sending a screw. I responded by email and asked if they could send a hammer and bolt spring as well and if so, that I would try and fix it and if that didn't work, then I would need to open a ticket and send it in. I figured why not give it a try?

    I got a screw loose!

I left a message at the number the auto reply gave my yesterday when I sent an email and described the current problem. No reply yet. I am going to take it apart tonight again and clean it this time. Will try to remember to snap some pictures of the hammer and the bolt spring. Leaning towards...

What Muzzleloading Stuff Did You Do Today?

Took one last trip to the barn to look in some other crates back there. I found a little machine tool kit with some good looking hollow ground flat head bits along with a bunch of other nice looking bits. Also found a set of needle files that had some rust but worked fine expanding my rear...

    I got a screw loose!

And I am not offended. I bought this gun to try and learn something about these 1851's and not bugger up the 2 colts that we have over here. So far so good. I am not very mechanically oriented and never have been. I can read and learn. Keeping my old Ford tractors running is about my limit...

    I got a screw loose!

I just broke my gun without firing it. Lost the first click that puts it in free wheel. Locks up immediately. Not sure if I bent/broke something when putting on that unfitted grip but now with old grips on still broke. I think I saw a thread on something like this. Maybe I bent the main...

    I got a screw loose!

Actually lots of screws. While removing my grips, I noticed that one of the trigger guard screws was missing from my new Pietta with 12 shots thru it. Then, I checked all the other screws and most were loose? I never had to check the screws on my new cartridge guns. Is this something that I...

    WANTED 1851 navy grips

So i got the taylor grips and they are 1 piece grips. I like that it eliminates the side screw. These are pics just installing the unfinished grips. They look like the one from dixie so i may be in left field with my thouhjts above. Need to find some tape and sandpaper

    WANTED 1851 navy grips

That is a good find but from my limited research, I don't think those would be an easy match for the Pietta. The screw is on the side and 2 or 3 piece on the ones I have seen for Pietta. That one should be good for the Uberti and maybe even the colts and maybe the Uberti confederate versions...

SOLD My loss, your gain sale!! WTS Leech and Rigdon .36 cal. Revolver.

That looks sweet. Do you know when it was made? Any known issues? I think it would be a good addition to my 1851 stable. Thinking of stcking with the 1851. Being a noob and everything

    Pietta 1851 noobie first impressions

Ok, i loaded up 3 and went outback with a fancy target i had in inventory. Same batch of paper carts as above. 60 yards off hand. Unfortunately, my new 18 cent remington #10 caps dont work so well. Had to drop the hammer on 2 of the shots. Needless to say, it didnt help my shooting. All to...

What Muzzleloading Stuff Did You Do Today?

I was mowing and accidentially veered off into the area behind the barn. Ended up cleaning up my established shooting lanes. Reset my little target made from scraps and now ready to prepare for october. My blind is an old cow servicing station from previous owner. After mowing i changed...

    Percussion caps #10s and #11s

Boy do I feel like a dummy. After ordering on-line and way overpaying, I went to the only sporting goods store in Monticello. They had CCI 10 and 11, and Remington 10 and 11. I picked up 5 packs of CCI No.10 for 7.99 each. I asked the kid have you had any trouble? He said not really, just...
