What Muzzleloading Stuff Did You Do Today?

What Muzzleloading Stuff Did You Do Today?

Per instructions from this wonderful site, I pinned the ramrod ends on my Santa Fe hawken and also one range rod. 3/32" drill through, chamfer each side of the hole, tap the common finish nail (6d I think .095") through, cut off each side barley past flush and peen ends into the chamfer. So easy...

    Staying safe while hunting

OMG...this reminds me of something I heard some 30 plus years ago while hunting on national forest land in east Texas. A couple guys camped next to us came over to ask if we had any luck or seen any deer... we said no, not yet and asked them the same... They said no, but one guy said that he did...

Fine table fare indeed! There are scattered free range Axis deer where I hunt in central Texas, get a picture of one on the trail cameras occasionally but yet to have a shot opportunity. Instructions for shooting rifle with a crescent buttplate

My first ML was a TC Renegade .50, flat/shotgun style but plate... I could shoot it well enough. Recently acquired SF Hawken with crescent but plate... LOP is about an inch longer at 14-1/2, which I think helps with the technique. Just seems natural to me, let it settle into the top of bicep...

What Muzzleloading Stuff Did You Do Today?

My Dad made this knife and sheath sometime in the late 70's and gave it to me in the early 80's. It's nothing special really, sheath is from a wore out boot top and he said the blade was a Green Mountain or Green River, can't remember but Green something. Some kinda antler handle, he never...

    Ramrod stuck

Not sure if this a good idea or not, chill it for a good while in a fridge, not a freezer, if you can fit it in one, like over nite so it gets chilled all the way through. Then gently start warming it from the outside with a hair dryer while pulling on the RR
