Do you have any issue with mis fires if they've been loaded for several days on a hunting trip?

Replacing traditions Kentucky barrel with a smoothbore

I reached out to Colerain about building me a barrel and have it shipped to a friend in the US where I can go and pick it up.

Replacing traditions Kentucky barrel with a smoothbore

As I’m in Canada not sure if I’d just be wasting his time calling him as I likely couldn’t get him to do any work and ship me a barrel. Shipping back and forth to the US is crazy priced.

Replacing traditions Kentucky barrel with a smoothbore

I’m bored over the holidays and have been tinkering and cleaning a few of my muzzleloaders. I have a desire to get a .62 (20 gauge) smoothbore trade rifle. Expensive and tough to find here in Canada. Wondering if anyone has replaced the barrel on a Kentucky flintlock with a smoothbore? Is there...

    Muzzleloader season camp

Nice looking camp. I do enjoy the hunt a lot more when there’s a camp involved. Nice to have the wood stove to take the chill off in the evening and to dry the boots!

Shot loads in a rifled 50 cal traditions

I like this idea! Now that paper grocery bags are back again they would work good. I usually only shoot 2 or 3 shots on an outing and it's only a few outings a year so won't need to make too many.

Shot loads in a rifled 50 cal traditions

As the thread title says I have been experimenting with shooting shot loads out of my Traditions kentucky 50 cal. Our grouse season was extended to January 15th a couple years ago, so I thought it would be fun to try and get a few and a rabbit or 2 with the flintlock. I don't have a smoothbore...

    First flintlock deer

Nicely done. I got my first deer with a fainter this year too. How was the kit to build difficulty wise?

Heading to the woods with my dad's big bore Mountain Rifle tomorrow.

Well I gave her a good go these last 10 days. Our season ended today. I only had opportunities on bucks but I already filled my buck tag with my flintlock and only had a doe tag left. It was great to pack dads rifle around in the woods and that alone made it a success. It was -20C and snowing...

Fat Doe with my Kibler 54

I saved some fat off my Flintlock buck as well. Are you just going to mix it with some bees wax? That was my thought for mine.

Heading to the woods with my dad's big bore Mountain Rifle tomorrow.

Very good point! Had a great day walking in the woods with the rifle at the ready. No deer seen, tomorrow is another day to give it a go.

Heading to the woods with my dad's big bore Mountain Rifle tomorrow.

My father passed this spring quite suddenly. All his guns came to me in the estate. He had a CVA Big Bore mountain rifle that he built from a kit in the late 1970's or maybe early 1980's.. I explained a bit more in another thread in the percussion section, but to make a long story short he only...
